***Please share! October 18, 11:00 a.m. The Jackson County Genealogical Society fundraiser will be held from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM Saturday, October 18th at the Applegate Inn, 114 West Hemlock Street in Dillsboro. There is parking at the venue or you can park in town and walk across the footbridge over Scotts Creek.

There will be a variety of entertainment. County music will be provided by the Deitz Family, the Jam Kids and young banjo player Landon Brooks. Gospel music group Turning Home will also be there. Curtis Blanton, local story teller extraordinaire, will share some of his best stories and Bill Crawford, local genealogy legend and historian will at times answer questions from the audience. There may also be others.

Their will exhibits on the history of Dillsboro and Jackson County and you may hear the story of the first car to ever enter Jackson County and who itโ€™s occupants were.

There will be several silent auction items, also several raffle items and some books and CDโ€™s from the Genealogical Office for sale.

Please bring a chair and join us for a day of fun, entertainment and family.***

The stewards of the beloved Webster Rock School have plans to carefully and meticulously restore the historic structure to its former glory. At this time, there is a need to acquire any historic photographs of the building.

If you or anyone you know has any photographs of the historic buildingโ€”interior or exteriorโ€”please let us know. You can drop digital versions here, or let us know in the comments if you have access to actual copies, so arrangements can be made to scan a digital copy for their files.
