Being a creative person by nature, I have always been able to see the beauty in everything around me, even when others couldn't. And, for many years, I dreamed about owning a quaint little boutique where I could create gorgeous displays using old vintage treasures I found and bought on my antiquing excursions. However, I also knew I wanted to get my hands dirty, literally! That's when I started painting my old vintage pieces I had laying around after envisioning them in a fresh new way. Soon enough, friends started asking me to paint their old outdated furniture and they told their friends and so on. Before I realized it, what was once simply a, flight of fancy, had become my reality. I had a thriving furniture restoration and home décor business. I thought it only appropriate to name my business, Flight of Fancy because it was how my dream was born. A few years (and hundreds of furniture pieces) later, I've taken faux finishing classes and honed my skills to set my work apart from the rest. I would love to help you give a fresh and revitalized look to your furniture or you can shop from my inventory. 🚞 Italy and France Strike Alert!

A quick note for anyone traveling to Italy or France around mid-October. Italian transport has a heavy strike day on the 16th, and French flight crews have called a five-day strike starting the 17th, right as the Toussaint school holidays begin.

I've been going through my clients' itineraries to see who has a connection that could be affected. Mostly it comes down to routing and a little buffer. A night in Rome before a Florence transfer costs far less than a missed villa arrival.

None of this means skip Europe in October. It's the best month for it. It just means there's a good reason to plan the logistics as carefully as the dinner reservations. This is also the reason I always recommend private transfers over trains whenever possible. That investment can mean the difference beteeen a seamless trip and a major disrupt in your plans.

"Partial view" is doing a lot of heavy lifting.

In hotel language, "partial sea view" can mean anything from a lovely angled glimpse to seeing the Aegean if you lean off the balcony at 45 degrees while someone holds your ankles.

What I actually ask a hotel before booking a view category:
✔️ Which floor, and which direction does the room face?
✔️ Is the view from the bed, or only from the balcony?
✔️ What's between you and the water (a pool bar, a parking lot, a construction crane)?

Which hotel has promised you a view and then delivered disappointment?

Quick question for the parents in here: if I said $20,000 for 10 days in Italy, would you think that's a lot or not enough?
