اكتشف مجموعة من العلماء عائلتين من المذنبات موجودتين في النظام النجمي الرسام بيتا Beta Pictoris، الذي يقع على بعد حوالي 64 مليون سنة ضوئية من الأرض، و يتضمن هذا الاكتشاف مجموعة يبدو أنها بقايا تحطم كوكب أولي.



يدعم هذا الاكتشاف فهمنا النظري للعمليات العنيفة التي قادت إلى تشكل الأرض و الكواكب الصخرية الأخرى في النظام الشمسي.



تقول الفيزيائية الفلكية آكي روبيرج Aki Roberge من مركز غودارد للطيران الفضائي في غرينبلد بميريلاند لأخبار ديسكفري: "إذا عدت بالزمن إلى الوراء في مجموعتنا الشمسية و إلى المرحلة التي كان فيها عمر نظامنا 22 مليون سنة فقط، ربما ستشاهد شيئاً مشابهاً لما يحصل في نظام Beta Pic".



وتضيف "تنشأ الكواكب الصخرية و هي أحد أنواع الكواكب الصلبة بالاعتماد على تراكم المذنبات و الكويكبات، و التصادمات الحاصلة بين تلك الأجسام هي المسؤولة عن بناء الكواكب في المرحلة الأولى".



وجد الفلكيون المذنبات الخارجية (Exocomets) بالاعتماد على تحليل يستخدم بيانات جُمعت على مدار ثمانية سنوات بوساطة جهاز HARPS الموجود على متن التلسكوب ذو الفتحة 3.6 متر و التابع لوكالة الفضاء الأوروبية في مرصد لاسيلا بتشيلي، وقد تمكن الفلكيون من التركيز على الأجسام الصغيرة و المتبخّرة التي تعبر أمام النجوم الحاضنة على طول خط النظر الواصل بين التلسكوب و النجوم.



تقول الفلكية فلافين كيفي Flavien Kiefer من المركز الوطني الفرنسي للأبحاث العلمية في باريس: "تُبين نتائجنا أن الأجسام المتبخرة و التي رُصدت على مدار عقود في نظام الرسام تُماثل المذنبات الموجودة في نظامنا الشمسي".



كتبت كيفي وزملاؤها مقالاً عن الموضوع نُشر في عدد اليوم (22/تشرين الأول/2014) من مجلة الطبيعة.



تظهر إحدى مجموعتي المذنبات و هي تلك التي صُنفت ضمن التوزع S على أنها مرتبطة ثقالياً مع كوكب فائق الكتلة، و من المحتمل أن يكون هذا الكوكب Beta Pictoris b الذي يدور حول نجمه الأم عند مسافة مساوية تقريباً لمدار زحل حول الشمس، و يشتبه الفلكيون بشكلٍ قوي بوجود كوكب عملاق غازي آخر خلف Beta Pic b.



تُنتج العائلة الأخرى من المذنبات و هي تلك التي صُنفت بالتوزع D غازاً أكثر من مذنبات التوزع S، و يدل ذلك الأمر على أنها إما أن تكون أكبر أو أكثر حداثةً و تتمتع بوجود سطح جليدي مكشوف أكبر من ذلك الموجود في التجمع S، التجمع D أكثر بعداً من التجمع S بالنسبة للنجم Beta Pic، و يمتلك التجمّع D مدارات متشابهة و هو أمر ينسجم مع فكرة كونها أجزاء من جسم كوكبي جليدي أكبر تحطَّم مؤخراً إلى أجزاء، و وفقاً لروبيرج ربما تكشُف عمليات التحليل اللاحقة عن مدى حداثة ذلك التصادم.
