Bread of Life Wichita Bread of Life, a 501(c) (3) charitable agency, has been serving those in need in Wichita, Kansas and surrounding communities since 1991.

We are open on Tuesdays from 10:00am - 1:45pm On a weekly basis, Bread of Life has endeavored to meet the needs of those in need, living in Wichita, the largest city in the state, and the South Central region of Kansas, by successfully distributing food, clothing and essentials to people in constantly growing numbers. Approximately 18.7% of Kansans are going hungry each week* and Bread of Life exists to offer them a helping hand. The charity serves people of all ages, from all races and cultures, covering Sedgwick County and eight other Kansas counties. Those who come to us for help include single mothers, grandparents raising grandchildren, veterans, the jobless and the homeless. Our records show that nearly 40% of recipients are children under 18, and 20% are seniors. Bread of Life is open on Tuesdays for distribution from 10 am to 1:45. Information you need to bring for first time assistance is a photo ID (driver's license), social security card for all family members, and a piece of mail verifying your current address.

A client, we have been praying for, was thrilled to let us know she got a housing voucher and is soon to get her apartment!

A client was worried that we wouldn't have enough food for this year's Thanksgiving Giveaway. The counselor assured her that there is always enough. God will ALWAYS provide! She then agreed that as long as she's been coming to BOL, there's always enough.

Robert thanks Bread of Life for prayer and counseling. He received salvation last month and has been happy to have a wonderful new relationship with Jesus. His relationship with family is better too.

***VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT***

Tiffany Martin started volunteering at Bread of Life about 3 years ago in our clothing area, Garments of Praise. She works closely with several other volunteers' sorting and organizing donated clothing every Monday and Tuesday, so that when a client comes in for food, they are also given the option to shop in Garments of Praise to help fill the clothing needs of their household. Tiffany loves working with the clothing donors, educating them on the need and how Garments of Praise helps so many families. Tiffany said, “It’s such a great organization and a great group of volunteers. For 35 years we’ve been doing what the bible says to do, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and share the gospel!” Tiffany is also a door greeter at her church, Living Word Outreach, where her goal is to make everyone feel welcomed and loved. Thank you, Tiffany, for all that you do and all the time you put into Garments of Praise.

***VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT***

Phyllis Seward has volunteered at Bread of Life for about 20 years. She is a member of Living Word Outreach, the church that started this ministry 35 years ago. While her daughter was at youth on Tuesday nights, she would come to bag groceries for the next weeks giveaway. Pyllis has loved watching the ministry grow over the years and though serving in many areas, she especially loves being a prayer counselor, ministering to and praying with clients. In her words, "That's the heartbeat of what we do here" She also loves watching the other counselors grow in their walk with the Lord and marvels at how God seems to always put the right client with the right counselor to meet whatever need they're going through that day. We are thankful for her servanthood both at Bread of Life and at her local church where she works quietly behind the scenes to help wherever needed.
