Today, we celebrate with purpose.
As we mark 40 years of Smith’s Ferry Services, we do so intentionally on the heavenly birthday of our founder, Ira L. Smith. We chose this day because this journey would not exist without him.
From a young boy building boats alongside his father, Capt. Ira L. Smith dreamed of one day owning his own ferry company. That dream became reality when he officially founded Smith’s Ferry Services in 1986—laying the foundation for a legacy that continues to serve the Virgin Islands today.
For four decades, Smith’s Ferry has been more than transportation. It’s about connecting the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, bringing families together, supporting business, and creating opportunity across our region. It’s about legacy. It’s about family. And it’s about the journeys that continue.
Proudly locally owned and operated, we carry forward a vision built with intention—one that continues to strengthen our islands and our people.
