The Cleetwood Cove trail at Crater Lake is closed for THREE seasons! This means there is no lakeshore access until 2029. Why is the Cleetwood Trail closed for so long? Extensive work needs to be completed, and short summer seasons make that difficult!

Think that tiny bowling ball would make duckpin bowling easier? Here's some perspective: no one has ever bowled a certified perfect 300 game in regulation duckpins. The closest anyone has come is 279—a record set by Connecticut bowler Pete Signore Jr. in 1992.
We tried this old-school New England tradition in West Hartford, Connecticut, where duckpin bowling is still alive and well. If you're looking for unusual things to do around Hartford, this is one experience worth trying.
We found it much harder than regular bowling. Have you ever tried it?

When visiting the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Parks, expect rough, narrow gravel roads with turnouts.
We went with an F350, which did work; but it would have certainly been easier with a smaller vehicle!

Here's one to add to an Oregon road trip: Natural Bridge on the Upper Rogue River.
You'll find it in southern Oregon near Prospect, along Highway 62 on the way toward Crater Lake National Park. A short interpretive trail makes it surprisingly easy to see, and nearby Rogue Gorge gives you another look at what ancient lava flows did to this landscape.
If you're driving to Crater Lake, we'd absolutely make time for both.

Pearsony Falls is a picturesque, uncrowded water fall in Prospect Oregon.
There is just a short walk to the water (about a half mile!)
