“Madurodam, much more than a miniature Netherlands”

🇳🇱 At Madurodam you can meander amongst famous buildings, cities and landmarks in the Netherlands and learn about the culture and heritage and trade of the country in a fun and interactive way.

✈️ As you stroll through the open air museum you come across numerous areas where there are places to explore and play. You can try stacking containers onto ships, control dams and waterlocks and even take an imaginary flight on a KLM plane.

🇬🇧 Some of the newest attractions have the option of joining an English language or Dutch queue which means you don’t miss out on anything.

🛝 There’s also a super cute Miffy playground and a large play area with food outlets too.

⭐️ New Attraction Added ⭐️

🍫 We recently added The Chocolate Factory to our website following our visit earlier this year.

🇳🇱 If you’re looking for a stopover or an activity for a few hours whilst in the Brabant area of the Netherlands, then this is a fun interactive experience worth trying out.

🏭 It is best suited to 6 year olds upwards and has a fun technology focus. Collect points along the way as you complete activities and see who will top the daily scoreboard. Don’t forget to create your own chocolate sprinkles to take home.

We (Laura and family) have just stopped off in sunny Koksijde on the Belgian coast! This is one of our favourite pit stops between Calais and the Netherlands! Huge beaches and a beach promenade with restaurants, beach bars and family go-kart hire 🏖️ 🇧🇪

“Beekse Bergen absolutely blew us away - we went on an African safari when we got married nearly 10yrs ago and I’ve been desperate to go back but with 2 young kids (7&3) it wasn’t going to be happening any time soon… enter Beekse Bergen… WHAT A PLACE! Beautiful accommodation looking out over the ‘Serengeti’ with giraffes, zebras, camels & rhinos walking past the massive window of our accommodation” (the Johnson family)

There are still some Savannah Lodges left for the summer with views of the giraffes! Prices are currently discounted.

🚘 Car-Free Holidays in the Netherlands 🇳🇱

Looking for car-free holiday ideas? Here are some of our featured places to stay which are easily accessible by public transport:

1. Duinrell: 30 mins from Amsterdam airport. Theme park, water park, 5 mins walk to Wassenaar and 4km from the beach. Great transport links.

2. Hof van Saksen: Premium resort with incredible waterslides, sandy lake beach, play areas and kids’ academies. Train from Schiphol to Assen (1h50), then 15 mins by taxi/bus.

3. Landal Volendam: Traditional Dutch homes on the Markermeer lake. 10 mins walk to Volendam’s shops, restaurants and cheese factory. 2 pools in walking distance. 25 mins from central Amsterdam by bus.

4. Beekse Bergen: Safari and Lake Resorts with beaches, fun park and lodges overlooking the animals. 25 mins from Eindhoven airport by taxi (or doable bus-train-bus).

5. Efteling: All of the Efteling resorts and EuroParcs Kaatsheuvel can be reached by bus. From Eindhoven airport it’s 30 mins in a taxi.

6. Landal Waterparc Veluwemeer: On the edge of the Hoge Veluwe National Park. Waterfront park with pools and play areas. 10 mins by bike to Hansel and Gretel pancake house. From Schipol to Harderwijk by train (1h30), then 10 mins by bus.

7. Landal de Reeuwijkse Plassen: Sustainable park near Gouda. Indoor pool, lake beach. 15 mins by taxi from Gouda train station or 20 mins by bus (bus stop is a 10 min walk from the park). Houses being upgraded this year.

8. Landal Amerongse Berg: Small park in beautiful nature, 15 mins walk to Veenendaal West train station. 30 mins to Utrecht and the Miffy/Train Museums.

9. Europarcs de Utrechtse Heuvelrug: stunning lagoon and forest a short walk away and 15 mins from central Utrecht by train from Maarn (30 mins walk away or a 5 minute taxi ride).

10. Stayokay Hostels: Family-friendly hostels in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Domburg and more. Great for extending your trip!
