❗️Everyone please be very careful on Patton Farm Road heading towards Howardsville. Just after you cross the low water bridge the open field on the right has about 25 deer that cross the road around 6-6:30 every night. The barbed wire fence is down along the road. I have counted them at least 4 nights. Three have been hit already. There are yearling young deer and adults. My advice is to please slow down coming into the curve. These deer jump up to the road and give you little chance to avoid them. Stay safe.

I took photos at 5:30 am and forgot to post them. I had an early appointment in Charlottesville. Slow down as you cross. Bridge is still closed by VDOT.

VDOT! I know people will go across it, so I took pictures before I turned around to head back home to show you the water with a small pickup coming across it. Go slow! Some stray thunderstorms are predicted and I don't know if it will get higher. Closed means closed, but I also know people will still cross. Stay safe.

More rain is in the forecast for today. Make good choices and take another route. It will continue to rise as water comes off the mountains. I'm a bit under the weather, but will update as the day goes on. Thank you Scott Gunnell!

Update on 6/13/2025 at 9:30 pm. No need for photos. The water at the bridge is about a foot from the top of it. We may dodge flooding, but there is rain in the forecast tonight and over the next few days. These thunderstorms can bring rain like we had tonight over and over again as they push through. Please be aware of ponding roads and use your best judgements tonight and in the morning. The bridge may flood overnight if the mountain continues to get this heavy rain. We received a fair amount of rain in this last storm and rain continues. Power is out in the area of Lyndhurst, Brookmill and beyond.
Much more rain is on radar for the evening. I would prepare for going another way in the morning.

❗️❗️6/8/2025 at 8 am. The Bridge flooded overnight. The water is very muddy and is flowing fast. Make good decisions as the water is pretty high as you can see and flooding out wide. The forecast is calling for possibility of heavy downpours and thunderstorms today. So far radar looks like we are going to miss the worst.. Be alert for ponding on the roads today. Thank you Kate Newman for the message. This was quite a surprise this morning. Others are reporting flooding in our area. Lipscomb third and 4th photos. Because of the overgrowth at the bottom of the bridge, it's hard to see the water at the bottom, but it is getting close to the road. Be safe out there! Last two are Patton Farm from McKee side.
Brenda near the Cheese Shop is reporting 3.2 inches of rain.

There's only about 2 inches of flowing water over the bridge and the flooding is only on the bridge and not the roadway. Note the grass on the side of the bridge is still above the water. Be safe and slow down as you approach and go over the bridge. Unless we get more rain, I don't feel the need to report past this post. Have a great day everyone!

Water is now on the bridge as you can see from them photos. The rain is finished for us as far as radar goes. Please be careful overnight and into the early morning and slow down and look before you cross. I forgot to take photos of Lipscomb. The water was in the road, but not bad at all. I will go back down around 5 am. If it floods more, I'm hoping it won't be bad. Dooms, Crimora, Grottoes, Crozet, Charlottesville and more are experiencing many water rescue calls. Let's try and get everyone to their destination safely. No matter where you are driving, be cautious of road conditions.

Wow those last couple of storms really put the rain down. Radar looks like another band of thunderstorms will be here shortly.
I strongly suspect the bridge will flood overnight if we get the next round of severe storms. I'm not sure how much it will flood. I don't think the gates will be closed, but I could be wrong. Let's hope for no accidents or injuries because of one mans disregard for others safety. Regardless of how you feel, we should all be glad that our County cares enough to try and keep everyone safe. I pray that we all use common sense and use other roads instead of attempting to cross a flooded road, especially at night. I'll do another update later. Thanks to all of you who care about your safety and the safety of others. We need more like you.
