The City of Cape Town advises road users of temporary closures of the southbound lanes (towards Sweet Homes/Philippi) at the Duinefontein Road and Govan Mbeki Road intersection on 3, 4, 10, 17 and 24 October to accommodate intersection upgrade and construction works.

Traffic officials and directional signage will be present to guide motorists along alternative routes.

Motorists are advised of temporary traffic changes at the intersection of Strandfontein Road, Govan Mbeki Road and Jan Smuts Drive from 25 to 28 September 2026 to accommodate ongoing construction works.
𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀:
✅Eastbound lanes on Govan Mbeki Road will be closed between Wetton Circle and the intersection.
✅Motorists are advised to use Lansdowne Road as an alternative route.
✅No access to the intersection from Wetton Circle.
✅Traffic from Strandfontein Road may only turn left onto Govan Mbeki Road toward Wetton Circle.
✅No through access from Strandfontein Road to Jan Smuts Drive and no right turns onto Govan Mbeki Road.
✅Access to residents and businesses will be maintained.
