Each day is gently active (9–13km walks), balanced with indulgent moments — from wine tastings at multiple estates to river barge picnics and 3-course dinners.

SANCCOB does incredible work. 💜

A very special moment at SANCCOB💫

An African Penguin egg that was rescued earlier in the season has been carefully monitored in our incubator while it developed and hatched safely. 🐣

During the final days of incubation, when the chick first broke through the shell, a stage known as “starring”, the egg was placed with two of SANCCOB’s permanent resident African Penguins, Princess and Que, who took on the role of foster parents. Their natural parenting instincts help provide the warmth, comfort and guidance a newly hatched chick needs in its first delicate days.

As the chick emerges into the world, Princess and Que will help care for it until it grows strong enough to move to our rehabilitation area. From there, the little African Penguin will continue gaining weight and strength as it prepares for the next stage of its journey.

Once ready, the chick will be released back into the wild, helping to bolster the wild African Penguin population.

A reminder that sometimes the smallest arrivals carry the greatest hope. 🐧
