🐾✈️ From Melbourne-bound to supporting the local SPCA! ❤️

Meet Odin & Drogo — two very special fur babies who recently travelled all the way from South Africa to Melbourne, Australia 🇿🇦➡️🇦🇺

Their parents made sure they had all the comforts of home while staying at their boarding facility — favourite comfort items, familiar smells and plenty of things to make their stay a little easier while their big international adventure was underway. 🥹🐾

But once Odin & Drogo were reunited with their family in Melbourne, those special items couldn’t make the journey with them.
So instead of letting them go to waste… their parents decided to pay the love forward! ❤️
Today, we were incredibly proud to deliver their comfort items to SPCA Benoni, where they can bring comfort and happiness to other animals waiting for their forever families. 🐶🐱💕

There’s a new family member in town… and his name is Koda! 🥹❤️
Bringing a puppy home is one of life’s most exciting moments. Those tiny paws, puppy breath and “I can’t believe you’re finally ours!” moments are what memories are made of. 🐾🏡

What a paw-some Saturday! 🐾💚

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by the PETport stand at the SPCA Benoni Community Market! It was such a pleasure meeting so many fellow animal lovers, sharing plenty of laughs, talking all things pet travel, and helping families understand what it takes to get their furry loved ones ready for their next big adventure.

We loved chatting with each and every one of you, and we hope our conversations left you feeling a little more confident—and a little more excited—about travelling with your four-legged family members. ❤️✈️

As part of our Nelson Mandela Day Drive, the PETport team was also incredibly proud to donate dog food, treats, and tins to SPCA Benoni. Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps give deserving animals a little extra comfort while they wait for their forever homes.

Let’s talk about one of life’s greatest mysteries… 🐶💨

Puppy breath vs Dog breath.

Puppy breath is basically pure magic.

It’s that sweet, milky, slightly biscuity, “I just want to bury my face in this tiny face forever” smell. Scientists still haven’t fully explained it, but we all know the truth: puppies are 90% fluff and 10% enchanted air.

Then… they grow up.

Suddenly that same little face is giving you the full “I’ve been investigating the garden, licking my paws, and possibly tasting something questionable under the couch” experience. It’s earthy. It’s bold. It’s… character.

No judgment here. We love them at every stage (even the stinky ones).

Pro tip from the PETport team:
A good dental routine, the right diet, and the occasional breath-freshening treat can help keep adult dog breath a little more “hello handsome” and a little less “whoa there buddy”.

But honestly? We’ll still kiss that face either way.

Look at this little legend! 🐾🇬🇧

Spot has officially arrived in his new home in the UK… and what a welcome! A cosy bed overflowing with toys and treats, and the biggest, warmest family ready to spoil him rotten.❤️

We get asked this a lot: “How long does it take for our pet to settle after the big move?”

The honest answer? Every fur baby is different. Some dive straight into their new life like they’ve lived there forever. Others need a little more time to decompress, figure out the new smells, sounds, and routines. That’s completely normal.

A few gentle tips for the settling-in period:
• Keep the first few days calm and predictable — soft voices, familiar items from home, and a quiet space they can retreat to.
• Stick to their usual feeding and walking times as much as possible.
• Let them explore at their own pace — no forcing cuddles or introducing too many new people at once.
• Watch for subtle stress signs (hiding, reduced appetite, restlessness) and give them extra patience and reassurance.
• And remember: consistency and love work wonders. Most pets find their feet beautifully within a couple of weeks.
