***Fraud Alert***

We have been contacted by two individuals dealing with a company called Skyline Logistic who are supposed to be delivering pets to them. These individuals have paid tens of thousands of ZAR, one individual has paid over R200,000.00 – neither has received their pet. If you are contacted by this company their modus operandi is as follows:

• The request deposits, payment for vaccinations, payment for specialized pet insurance, payment for quarantine fees – the list goes on. These are all stalling tactics in order to extract more money form the unsuspecting individuals
• They have a website and send links for you to track your shipment – this is fake – the information they provide when tracking your shipment is fabricated.

We would like to confirm that while there may be similarities between our company and the entity in question, they are not the same. Key differences include:

Website and Email Domain: Our domain is skylinegroup.co.za, whereas theirs is skylinelogict.com.

Company Name: We are registered as Skyline Freight (Pty) Ltd, trading as Skyline Global Logistics. They operate under the name Skyline Logistics.

Branding: Their logo and branding bear no resemblance to ours.

Contact Information: They list only a cellphone number (which, when searched on Truecaller, appears under the name “Lumka”) and provide no physical address on their website. In contrast, our contact details are transparent and include a registered business address and landline number.

Please note that it is not unlawful in South Africa to operate under a business name that is similar — though not identical — to another. After reviewing the facts, we have no reason to believe that this company is actively impersonating Skyline Freight (Pty) Ltd or attempting to mislead customers into thinking there is an association.

For the first time ever, the International Trade Administration Commission (ITAC) is proposing to charge fees for the administrative services it provides in relation to import and export permits, exemptions, and related functions.

On 16 May 2025, ITAC published a proposal outlining these new charges.

Section 41 of the Customs and Excise Act 91, of 1964 as amended , prescribes the information that is required to render a valid bill of entry. As from 1 April 2025 it will now be mandatory that all commercial invoices reflects the additional information.

It is imperative that all importers / exporters verify that the correct vat number is linked to their importers / exporters code number. In other words the VAT number that is indicated in BOX 8 of the customs declaration pertains to the importers / exporters name of the same box.
