Cedar Coffee Roasters started in lockdown, and five years later they’ve proved that coffee triumphs, even over a pandemic ☕

They knew from day one they wanted to go global. When they signed up with TUNL, their 5-year plan came quicker than the rush of your first coffee in the morning.

We sat down with Cedar coffee founders, Leigh Wentzel and Winston Thomas and learned so much about a drink that’s enjoyed globally by so many, and found a new appreciation for it with every cup.

Find Cedar Coffee at Unit 8, Side Street Studios, 48 Albert Rd, Woodstock, Cape Town. (Our favourite is the seasonal blend.)

Welcome to TUNL Unpacked, a series where we break down exactly what happens when you book a shipment on TUNL, one feature at a time.

Because booking an international shipment shouldn’t feel like a second job.

Five browser tabs, a rough estimate from a website calculator, retyping the same product details for the hundredth time... if this is your reality right now, this series is for you.

In each episode we’re pulling back the curtain on the TUNL platform: quotes, HS codes, packaging, insurance, all of it, and showing you exactly how it works and why it’s built the way it is.

Follow along, because this is just the beginning.

Your international customers shouldn’t feel like they stumbled onto a SA store by accident. 🌍

They should feel like you built it for them. Getting your currency, pricing, checkout, and shipping right is what makes that happen. And most SA stores aren’t there yet.

— a purpose-driven Cape Town clothing brand — figured this out. They use Shopify Markets to give international customers a localised shopping experience, and TUNL handles the cross-border shipping behind the scenes.

At our next TUNL Talks on 26 May, they’re showing exactly how they did it.

You’ll leave knowing how to price for global markets without killing your margin, what a seamless international checkout looks like, and how to pair the right shipping setup with your storefront.

Free to attend. Booking essential.

Donnet and Stan, owners of .equipment bought a Jimny, hit the road, and came home with a business idea.

Nobody told them it would end up shipping to Brazil.

Turns out when you build something good, borders don’t really care where you’re based.

But international shipping from South Africa? That’s a different story. The costs, the paperwork, the uncertainty… For a two-person team, it had to be simple or it wasn’t going to work.

That’s where TUNL came in. Live shipping rates at checkout. Duties shown upfront, and orders going out the door and landing on the other side of the world. 🌍

Your products deserve to go global, let’s make it happen.

A Jimny. An overlanding trip. And a problem that became a business🏕️
equipment didn’t set out to build a company. Donnet and Stan bought a Jimny, hit the road, and somewhere between the dust and the distance, started designing solutions for themselves.

They got home. Made the products. They worked. And then they realised other people out there in their Jimnys probably needed these too.

And so MOD was born. Practical accessories for people who actually use their Jimnys.

But Suzuki Jimnys are only sold in certain markets, which means the people who want what MOD makes are spread across the globe. For a two-person team, shipping internationally needed to be simple and automated, not another full-time job.

TUNL helped them turn that global demand into a workable fulfilment workflow: Shopify integration, streamlined shipping, lower costs, and hands-on support when they needed it.

A South African business. A global customer base. No border in the way 🌍
