Sleepless nights!
As hunters we always aim for the perfect hunt.
A perfect trophy
A perfect stalk
A perfect shot
After the impact, we were all very satisfied and excited to this bull up close. It had been 4 days of stalks trying to get a window on a proper old bull. We finally made it happen and we sat waiting for the bellow.
After about 30 minutes we started on the tracks and about 200 yards in we knew we had a problem. The blood had completely stopped, but the bull had not.
It got dark, and we to call it for the day. The fire was quiet that night, none of the usual festivities that follow such a great hunt. A long night laid ahead, and sleep was not to be a part of it!
We started the track around 06:00 the following morning. Tired but determined.
Just after 10 am and 3 miles on the bush erupted. It’s humbling to see the amount of lead these bulls can take when they’re full of adrenaline!
We sat back for a good 10 minutes as the dust settled. An amazing tracking effort.
A close call.
A Perfect hunt.
