Welcome on board Chikankata!!

At the beginning of this 2022/23 season, we made a decision to extend our Sunflower Outgrower Scheme to Chikankata District. We took some time to check on the performance of our new partner farmers and also used the visit to understand challenges our partners could be facing, shared some on the spot technical advice and listened to their expectations.

We are thrilled with the overwhelming response the Sosika Sunflower Outgrower Scheme has received in the district and the excitement that we were able to see from our partners.

We have practical economic solutions for the rural economy and we shall continue to partner with smallholder farmers in an effort to create better rural livelihoods opportunities.

What started as sunflower seed given to the farmers can now be seen as in the form of the final product of sunflower cooking oil.

We are testing the model and we have no doubt that our partner farmers will get more returns on their associating with Sosika once we value add. We are committed to making value addition a reality!

Ours is a long term investment of our time, expertise and financial resources in the rural economy through our partnership with rural small scale farmers in our sunflower outgrower scheme.

Under the scheme, we provide inputs, extension services and marketing of the commodity. On 18th June 2022, we successfully held our first ever marketing day under the scheme and we are grateful to our partner farmers for their hardwork, honest and transparency demonstrated.

We remain committed to strengthening this partnership and help improve sunflower production, productivity and incomes for our partner farmers in the district and beyond.
