This crate will only ever fit one thing. That's the entire point.

A standard box is always slightly the wrong shape, and the empty space inside it is space you're paying to ship.

So we measure first and build second. It takes a day longer, and it usually costs less.

Three people. One painting. Nobody rushing.

Gloves on, the lift planned before anyone touched it, and the position on the wall agreed in advance.

Most people assume our job ends when the crate arrives. With fine art it rarely does. Unpacking, condition check, placement and installation are all part of the same job, and it's the part where most of the risk actually sits.

Every piece. Perfectly handled.

Some companies will strap your bike to a pallet and call it shipping.

We build a crate around it. Braced at the points that take the load, measured to that exact machine, with space built in for your helmet and spares so it all travels together.

Three weeks at sea will tell you the difference.

Most freight companies have a warehouse. We built a gallery space inside ours.

Custom racking, climate controlled, secure, and a viewing space where a piece can be properly seen rather than glimpsed on a loading bay.
It exists because art rarely moves in a straight line. Something arrives before the client is ready for it, or between a fair and a private collection, or while a wall is being prepared. It needs somewhere to wait that was designed for it, not a corner that happened to be free.

Not a normal freight facility. That's the point.

This is the bit people don't expect.

Not the freight. The photos.

"Amazing service from the time they collected my motorbike until handed off at the airport for its flight. They took care of all the documentation, prepared and crated the bike with photos sent to me all along the process. I dealt with Loyd, very easy to communicate with, and he kept me updated all along the way. I have no hesitation in recommending Skyline for any freight needs."

Shipping something you care about is an anxious thing. You hand it over and then it disappears for a few weeks. Sending photos at every stage costs us nothing and it's the single thing clients mention most.

Ship it all at once. Take delivery when you actually need it.

Most importers we speak to are paying twice. Once for the freight, and again for the retail space their stock is sitting in while it waits to be sold.

It doesn't have to work that way.

Contact the Skyline team if your storeroom has quietly become your warehouse.

Dubai to Portugal. One bike, one crate, one very good reason.

Crated to the machine, braced at the load points, with the helmet and spares packed in alongside so it all travels as a single shipment. Somewhere on the other side of this there's a coastal road and a rider who's been planning it for months.

That's the part of the job we like.

I've held two Picassos in my hands.

They'd never been shown together before. Small pieces, both of them. I've moved aircraft engines and cars worth more than most houses, and nothing has come close to how careful I felt that day.

That's the job. Not what's on the paperwork. The fact that some things simply cannot be replaced.

Operational Update: Navigating the Strait of Hormuz Headlines

With recent diplomatic announcements surrounding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, our team has seen a sharp increase in inquiries regarding immediate space availability and falling freight rates. While the political steps and the subsequent drop in crude oil prices are encouraging, the peace deal is only in its infancy, and we must emphasize that regional shipping operations are not back to normal yet.

For shipping lines and logistics providers, a trade lane is not open until it is safe and insurable. Currently, several critical operational factors are keeping ocean freight rates high and space tight across the region:

Active Mine Risks: Security agencies like Ambrey maintain a substantial threat rating due to unmapped drifting and tethered sea mines. Naval clearance operations are expected to take anywhere from forty days to several months to certify safe transit lanes.

Carrier Suspensions: Leading global carriers, including Maersk, have officially maintained their booking suspensions and transit restrictions for the Upper Gulf, meaning space remains severely constrained.

Sustained Surcharges: War risk insurance premiums remain at extreme multiples of their pre-crisis rates. Carriers will continue to pass these immense overhead costs down until long-term stability is finalized.

Vessel Backlogs: Hundreds of stranded vessels inside and outside the Gulf will create an immediate bottleneck at the Traffic Separation Scheme, leading to unavoidable port congestion and equipment delays as operations slowly attempt to normalize.

Our advice to our cargo partners remains unchanged: continue to account for extended lead times, utilize alternative landbridge and port routing options, and brace for elevated spot rates through the immediate future. We are monitoring the technical updates directly from the water and will continue to manage your supply chains with data, not headlines. For specific routing adjustments on your active bookings, contact our operations desk directly.
