LSI last year contributed to a bridge construction project which is a very important link to support the urban Capital – Abu Dhabi which aims to reduce travel times by up to 15 minutes and ease traffic congestion on key routes. For this project, a Class A client engaged LSI’s specialized crane barge Arabian Ann 2, supported by a fleet of dedicated vessels including Grouper Ann 2, Mullet Ann, Marlin Ann 2 and the barge Caspian Ann. To ensure seamless ex*****on, LSI also deployed a skilled team to operate and manage the crane barge throughout the project. This included a deck foreman, crane operator, winch operator, and an electrician—each playing a key role in maintaining safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operations at the client’s work site. LSI recently deployed its specialized Jack-Up Barge Stork Ann for a one month soil investigation project in Umm Suqeim, Dubai - an essential phase in the planning and ex*****on of any marine or coastal infrastructure development. To support the barge’s operations, Carp Ann, under the command of Capt. Noel Del Mundo Dasigan, was mobilized to tow and assist Stork Ann throughout the project. In addition to the vessels, LSI assigned a dedicated team comprising a deck foreman, two winch operators, a mechanic, and an electrician, all working in coordinated shifts to maintain uninterrupted 24/7 operations at the site.
Soil investigation plays a critical role in determining the suitability and stability of the seabed for future construction. By analyzing soil layers, density, and bearing capacity, engineers can accurately design foundations for structures such as bridges, tunnels, jetties, or offshore platforms. Understanding both soil and water characteristics ensures that engineering decisions are grounded in reliable scientific data, ultimately safeguarding the integrity and sustainability of the project.
Through the combined efforts of its vessels and skilled personnel, LSI successfully supported this vital investigative phase for our Class A client, and both vessels returned safely to the LSI base in Hamriyah Free Zone.
