Australia isn't just beaches, cities and the Outback. 🇦🇺🥾

Just outside Sydney, the Blue Mountains offer everything from relatively easy walks with panoramic viewpoints to challenging trails that descend deep into valleys surrounded by sandstone cliffs, waterfalls and eucalyptus forest.

It's also a great example of why I encourage clients not to rush through Australia. Adding time beyond the major cities can completely change the trip.

Friday Check-Out 🌅

Checking out of the week from the top of New York City.

Sunset at Top of the Rock is spectacular—and very popular. The observation decks became quite crowded as golden hour approached, but watching the lights of Manhattan begin to come on was absolutely worth staying for.

I didn’t do The Beam or Sky Lift this visit, but after seeing them against that incredible sunset, I’d seriously consider adding one next time—especially for travelers who want a more intentional photo experience above the skyline.

That’s also why I love experiencing places I recommend firsthand. Sometimes the most useful travel advice comes from seeing how an attraction actually feels at its busiest time of day.

2026 is a particularly interesting year to rediscover Gaudí in Barcelona. 🇪🇸

This year marks 100 years since the death of Antoni Gaudí, and while some of the biggest centennial moments have already taken place, the celebration of his architectural legacy continues into the fall. Barcelona is also the 2026 World Capital of Architecture, with exhibitions, special tours, lectures and access to buildings that are not normally open to the public continuing through December.

And Gaudí is so much more than the Sagrada Família. Casa Batlló, La Pedrera, Park Güell, Casa Vicens and Palau Güell are just a few of the places where you can experience his work throughout Barcelona.

I’ve been a little quiet about what brought me to New York this week… 🗽🛳️

I just wrapped up two very full days of training with Cunard and luxury hotel partners in NYC—including getting aboard the iconic Queen Mary 2 at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.

And yes, I took a LOT of photos and video. 😂

There’s a big difference between reading about a ship and actually walking through the staterooms, seeing the public spaces, experiencing the dining and getting a feel for who would truly enjoy traveling this way.

That firsthand experience is one of the things I value most about being a travel advisor. The more I see, experience and learn, the better I can match my clients with the right trip—not simply a trip.

Lisbon is worth more than just the night before your cruise. 🇵🇹

Azenhas do Mar, a dramatic coastal village near Sintra, is a beautiful example of what you can discover when you give yourself a little extra time in this part of Portugal.

Lisbon can be the beginning or end of an ocean cruise, part of a larger Portugal or Iberian itinerary, or an addition to a Douro River cruise journey.
