🇬🇷 Greece is opening 126 museums, archaeological sites and historic landmarks for free for one special night. 🌕

On August 28, many cultural sites across the country will stay open until late evening or midnight to celebrate the August full moon.

It’s not just about free entry: dozens of locations will also host concerts, performances, exhibitions and guided night tours. Highlights include Delphi, Ancient Olympia, Ancient Corinth, Mystras and the Minoan Palace of Malia in Crete.

One famous landmark missing from the list is the Acropolis of Athens, which has not been opened for full-moon night visits for several years due to safety reasons. The nearby Acropolis Museum, however, will stay open until midnight, although admission will remain paid.

The full list of participating sites, events and opening hours is available on the official website of the Greek Ministry of Culture. If you’re traveling around Greece at the end of August, it could be a perfect chance to experience some of the country’s most remarkable places in a completely different atmosphere. 🌕🏛️🇬🇷

🌋 Mount Etna is once again affecting air travel in Sicily.

The volcano remains highly active, with ash emissions and lava flows continuing from its summit craters. On August 10, volcanic ash in the airspace forced Catania Airport to temporarily suspend incoming flights.

The situation is being closely monitored, so travelers flying to Catania or planning a trip around eastern Sicily should check their flight status before heading to the airport.
At the same time, Etna is putting on a spectacular natural show, with glowing lava and powerful eruptions lighting up the Sicilian landscape. 🌋🇮🇹
