Just an hour away from Vienna you can find this beautiful piece of nature complemented with a railway arches from the 19th century. Amazing place to hike all year round. Upper picture - February 2024, lower picture May 2021. :-)
This particular photo stop is called "20 Schilling Blick", because it was featured on the 20 Shilling note - Austria's former currency before Euro. ;-)

Just "discovered" a nice cozy Austrian restautant in my district - Waldzeile. After having walked around for years, it was time to try ir for lunch. 😋
And no, it's not a beef tartare, it is salmon on radish rizotto! 😅

Tomorrow I am on my way to Salzburg again. Each time I pass the Makart Square and the Makart Bridge with my group, I wonder if I should explain them who Hans Makart was. I feel like my typical audience doesn’t need so much information. 😉 But you guys have lived in Vienna for a while, so let me remind you that this son of Salzburg became a famous painter in Vienna. And you have seen for sure that splendid ceiling above the staircase in KHM, which he painted as one of his last contracts. After his death, Gustav Klimt took over.
