We’re proud to share that VH-FIW, our newest B200 Super King Air, has arrived in Adelaide and is now part of the Platinum Aircraft Charter fleet.

For us, this wasn’t about adding another aircraft - it was about strengthening a service. Increasing availability. Improving reliability. And giving our clients greater confidence that when they call, we can say yes more often, and deliver with the consistency they expect from Platinum.

🦈 We’re Hiring: Shark Patrol Pilots – Summer 2025
Love the idea of meaningful low-level flying along South Australia’s stunning coast? Want to build real hours, work with a pro team, and call “shark sighting” into a live radio with a straight face?

We’re on the lookout for capable, committed, and calm-under-pressure pilots to join our Shark Patrol Flight Crew for the upcoming summer season. Based at Aldinga Airfield, this is a full-time contract role from November to April, with potential for extension and occasional VFR charter flying.

You’ll be flying Cessna 172s on daily patrols along the metro and southern beaches, rotating between Pilot and Observer/Communicator duties. This is real work with real responsibility—coastal VFR with strict SOPs, no autopilot, and no hiding from a Christmas Day shift (public holidays are rostered fairly!).

Minimum Requirements:
✔️ CPL (A)
✔️ Class 1 Medical
✔️ 400+ hours total time (more is great)
✔️ Strong radio skills & a team-first mindset

Bonus Points for:
✨ Experience in Cessna 172/182/206
✨ Tailwheel time
✨ Adelaide Biplanes students or community connections

This is a great opportunity for pilots who want to sharpen their skills and gain exposure to a larger aviation operation—our Shark Patrol team works alongside Platinum’s experienced IFR charter crew, with plenty to learn if you’re keen to get involved.

The Whales Are Back!

Our aerial surveillance team had a breathtaking encounter yesterday – spotting the first whale of the migration season off South Australia’s coast during routine shark patrols! This early sighting marks the beginning of a majestic journey as Southern Right and Humpback whales make their way from Antarctica to our warmer coastal waters.

These gentle giants travel thousands of kilometres every year to breed and calve in sheltered bays like Encounter Bay, Fowlers Bay, and the Head of Bight – areas rich with natural beauty and cultural significance.

Historically hunted to near extinction, their return each year is a powerful sign of resilience and recovery. While our patrols are focused on coastal safety, we often find ourselves witness to – and in quiet awe of – the incredible wildlife that shares these waters.

Keep your eyes on the water – more sightings are sure to follow!

𝗔𝗡𝗭𝗔𝗖 𝗗𝗮𝘆 – 𝗔 𝗦𝗸𝘆𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁

This ANZAC Day, Platinum Aircraft Charter proudly pays tribute to the bravery and sacrifice of those who served, and those who continue to serve, in the defence of our nation.

𝗔𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 25𝘁𝗵, we are honored that our sister company ADELAIDE BIPLANES—alongside some of our most passionate and skilled pilots—will take to the skies in two aircraft that are themselves pieces of living history: the 1942 Boeing Stearman and the 1940 de Havilland Tiger Moth.

These iconic vintage aircraft, painted in unmistakable, vibrant yellow, will depart Aldinga Airfield at approximately 0700. In solemn formation, they will soar gracefully over the Aldinga Memorial, before continuing on to Willunga, tracing a respectful path above the main street, and finally returning to Aldinga around 0730.

These aren’t just aircraft—they are airborne time machines.
The Tiger Moth, a staple in RAAF pilot training during WWII, and the rugged Boeing Stearman, used to prepare pilots for the demands of aerial combat, echo the courage of a generation. It's humbling to know that pilots who trained in these very models would go on to serve in pivotal battles alongside Australian forces across the globe.

In South Australia, Tiger Moths were once a common sight in local training schools during the 1940s. Today, they serve a gentler mission—reminding us of the youth who once climbed into their cockpits with dreams of flight and a deep sense of duty.

As a family-owned aviation business, this day holds deep meaning for us. We fly not just with skill, but with heart—with gratitude stitched into every turn and throttle adjustment.

So, if you're nearby, look to the skies just after dawn—and when you see that flash of yellow overhead, know that it's more than just a flight. It’s a tribute. A thank you. A soaring salute.
