At next year's South Australian March election and you live in the electorate of "Flinders", let's back decency to the hilt!!! Go get 'em Rod Keogh πππ
Massive decision
One region
One voice
One purpose
Electorate of flinders
Why Today Matters
Today is the 5th of December β a date that will always carry weight for my family.
At 1505 on this day in 2023, we lost Al Payne, my stepdad, to a health system that failed him long before he reached proper care.
And in his memory, this is the day Iβve chosen to speak openly about my decision.
Why Iβm Standing
I will be standing as an Independent candidate for the seat of Flinders at the next state election.
With Christmas and the New Year approaching, Iβm not launching a big campaign.
This is a time for families, community and a break from pressure.
The real campaign conversations can wait until January.
But over the coming weeks, Iβll be reaching out quietly β listening, calling, and speaking with people across the Flinders Electorate to understand the issues we all face and to find common ground.
What Our Region Is Facing
Because our region is dealing with challenges that stretch across every community:
β’ A health system stretched by distance and limited resources
β’ Mental health services that are not meeting the needs of our region
β’ Housing shortages affecting families, workers and industries
β’ Environmental decisions made far away, without local understanding
β’ Pressure on fishing, farming and tourism
β’ And a long-standing sense that Adelaide makes decisions about us, not with us
And itβs not just health.
There are cracks in every department β cracks caused by overreach, political bullying, and a complete lack of accountability.
This needs to stop.
It needs to be called out.
And I wonβt rest until the doors are opened, the truth is heard, and regional people finally get the respect and honesty they deserve.
A Deeper Reason
Some might assume Iβm running because of my current situation but they would be incorrect.
This goes far deeper.
This is about every family, every business, every town that feels ignored, pushed aside or spoken down to.
Losing Al was the moment that changed everything for me.
It exposed the failures regional people face every day β failures hidden behind paperwork, excuses and politics.
Simone sees the same cracks through her work in mental health and social services.
Iβve seen them firsthand.
And together, we know this region deserves more.
A Moment of Strength for Flinders
And I truly believe this:
If the Flinders Electorate were to elect an Independent β it would be one of the most powerful moments in our regionβs history.
It would send a message Adelaide cannot ignore:
that we are done being sidelined, done being spoken over, and done being treated like an afterthought.
It would mean real negotiation, real leverage, and a real voice for our communities β not filtered through party politics.
Iβm not making big promises.
Iβm not dressing this up.
Iβm stepping forward because the Flinders Electorate is strongest when we stand as one, one region, one voice, one purpose.
For Now
For now, enjoy Christmas, your families, and the festive season.
In January, Iβll be ready to talk with anyone who wants to help build a stronger, united Flinders Electorate.
