Alice Springs Airport is conducting Exercise ROGUE ROTOR today, a full-scale emergency response exercise involving airport personnel and emergency services.

Between 10:45am and 1:15pm, you may notice an increased presence of emergency vehicles, responders and activity around the airport. This is a planned training exercise designed to test and strengthen emergency response procedures.

Supporting Stories, Creativity and Community: ADG Supports the Red Dirt Poetry Festival

Airport Development Group (ADG) is proud to support the 2026 Red Dirt Poetry Festival through our Community Grants Program, helping bring one of Australia's most celebrated literary events to Mparntwe (Alice Springs).

Running from 20–23 August, the festival will bring together established and emerging poets, artists, and storytellers from across Australia and around the world for four days of performances, workshops, installations, and community events.

Since its inception in 2014, the festival has become a significant cultural event for Central Australia, creating opportunities for people of all ages to connect through storytelling, creativity, and artistic expression.

Festival Director Laurie May said the 2026 program would be the festival's most ambitious yet. "This year we have decided to go even bigger with our ambitions to bring you a festival that continues to centre poetry and multi-arts while affirming that Central Australia is truly the home of Australian poetry. We are grateful to all of our event partners and sponsors, including the Airport Development Group."

At ADG, we recognise the important role arts and cultural initiatives play in strengthening communities, supporting local talent, and celebrating the unique stories that make the Northern Territory such a remarkable place.

We encourage everyone to mark the dates in their calendar and experience this wonderful celebration of creativity in the heart of Australia.

Alice Springs Airport Welcomes Royal Australian Navy Delegation Ahead of ANZAC Day
Airport Development Group, owner of Alice Springs Airport was proud to play host to a special arrival today, welcoming a delegation from the Royal Australian Navy ahead of ANZAC Day commemorations in Central Australia.

A contingent of six personnel from HMAS Arunta arrived in Alice Springs where they were formally welcomed to Country by Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation.

The visit highlights the longstanding relationship between HMAS Arunta and Lhere Artepe Aboriginal Corporation, with Corporation members having participated in ship visits over many years. The delegation’s return to Alice Springs, the first recorded visit since 2004 represents a meaningful reconnection between community and service.

During their stay, the Navy personnel will engage with local leaders, including the mayor Asta Hill, connect with NORFORCE representatives, and participate in community activities in the lead-up to ANZAC Day.

Airport Development Group is honoured that Alice Springs Airport could provide the setting for this important welcome ceremony, recognising the enduring bonds between Defence, community, and Country.

Moments like this reflect the role regional airports play, not only as transport gateways, but as places where community, history and national service come together.

We thank all partners involved in making this moment possible and extend a warm Central Australian welcome to the visiting personnel.
