Had to bring this one back.

A classic Shoalhaven Recycling team photo with everyone looking very proud of the mountain of recycling behind them… and fair enough too.

There’s a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes to sort, process and recover what comes through our yard, and this photo pretty much sums it up.

Dirty boots, high vis, masks on, plenty of laughs and a team that isn’t afraid to get stuck in.

We reckon they look pretty pleased with themselves here. 😂

Shoalhaven Recycling now operates 12 trucks across New South Wales, collecting and moving bulk waste for businesses, construction sites and larger commercial operations.

We’re proud to be based right here in the Shoalhaven, employing local people and running a growing operation that services customers well beyond our own backyard.

THIS IS WHAT TONS AND TONS OF CARDBOARD KEPT OUT OF LANDFILL LOOKS LIKE ♻️📦

Collected. Sorted. Processed.

And ready to become something useful again.

This photo is a pretty good snapshot of what happens behind the scenes at Shoalhaven Recycling every week.

Across NSW, paper and cardboard still make up 13.4% of commercial and industrial waste sent to landfill, and the EPA estimates that 35% of commercial and industrial waste going to landfill is recyclable. That’s a huge opportunity to do better.

For us, that starts locally.

Every box dropped into our cages, every commercial load brought into the yard and every bale processed here in Bomaderry is material being recovered instead of unnecessarily buried.

And we’ve deliberately made that easy for the Shoalhaven.

Cardboard and paper drop off is FREE.
For residents.
For businesses.
For commercial quantities.
And our front cardboard cages are accessible 24/7.

This is what a circular economy looks like at ground level. Recovering resources, building better recycling capacity and treating waste as something with value rather than something we simply throw away. Australia is investing heavily in exactly this kind of sorting and processing infrastructure because increasing recycling capacity means more materials can be reused, recycled and remanufactured.

This morning our director Ben joined BNI Coastlink for a fantastic Shoalhaven business breakfast at the Butterfactory.

A great turnout and an even better opportunity to meet, connect and have a chat with so many quality local business owners from across the region.

And somehow, public speaking has become part of Ben’s week too… which is fairly impressive considering it’s probably one of his least favourite things to do! 😂

After addressing the local council chamber earlier this week, he was back on his feet again this morning speaking at BNI.

Thanks to BNI Coastlink for having Shoalhaven Recycling along. We really enjoyed the morning and the chance to strengthen relationships with other local businesses doing great things across the Shoalhaven.

Thank you to Angie and the team at EHD Concrete Sleepers for inviting and hosting us this morning!

Our new XRIDO processing system is officially working inside the Shoalhaven Recycling plant, helping us shred, separate and recover more valuable material from the waste coming through our gates.

More efficient processing.
Better resource recovery.
Less recyclable material lost to landfill.

This technology was sourced globally, built for our operation and brought all the way to Bomaderry to help us take recycling in the Shoalhaven to the next level.

This has been a major project for the Shoalhaven Recycling team.

The system was sourced internationally, shipped from China to Australia, then assembled, modified and integrated into our Bomaderry plant by our team.

And now, after all the planning, construction, testing and fine tuning, it’s officially in action.

Our new XRIDO processing system helps us shred, separate and recover more material from the waste coming through our gates, improving how we process builders waste, construction waste and general waste right here in the Shoalhaven.

For our local community, that means one very important thing:

We can process more waste locally and recover more from it.

It’s not always glamorous, but this is where the real work gets done.

Behind every load that comes through the gates at Shoalhaven Recycling is a team sorting, separating and recovering material so as much as possible can be kept in the recycling stream.

Safety gear on. Gloves on. Masks on. Then straight into it.

It takes people, machinery and plenty of hard work to process the volume of waste that comes through our Bomaderry facility every week.

A big shout out to the crew on the sorting line who keep everything moving day after day.
