💪 Kids Fitness Classes with Nick at Boonah Health Hub! 🧠⚽🏃‍♂️

Looking for a fun way to get the kids moving, building confidence and burning some energy (so they might actually sleep 😂)?

Nick’s Kids Fitness Classes at the Boonah Health Hub are all about helping kids grow stronger physically, mentally and socially in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Why is movement so important for kids?
✅ Improves coordination and balance
✅ Supports brain development and concentration
✅ Helps emotional regulation and confidence
✅ Builds strength, fitness and healthy habits for life
✅ Encourages teamwork, resilience and social connection
✅ Reduces stress and anxiety while boosting mood

In a world full of screens and sitting still, kids need movement more than ever. Exercise isn’t just good for muscles, it helps wire the brain, improve focus at school and develop important motor skills as they grow.

Most importantly… they’ll have FUN while doing it 🙌

If you’re looking for a positive activity that supports both body and brain health, this is a great option for local kids.

We recently came across this article sharing the incredible connection between dogs and neurodivergent children.

And we want to say, we do see this.

At IronBark DogPark & Encompass Wellbeing, creating safe, positive connections between dogs and neurodivergent people is a big part of what we do… and when it works, it can be truly powerful.

But we also feel a responsibility to say this clearly:
it’s not always as easy or as “magical” as it’s being portrayed.

Because behind the beautiful moments, there is often a lot more going on.

In real life?

Sometimes for families it looks like:
• Dogs becoming overwhelmed and reactive
• Kids pushing boundaries in unsafe ways
• High-energy ADHD + high-energy dogs feeding off each other
• Puppies getting injured
• Children ending up hurt
• Families already under pressure trying to manage something that’s spiralling

And the truth is, without the right structure, guidance, and supervision…
it can become unsafe, fast.

Dogs are not tools.
They are not therapy devices.
And they are definitely not a quick fix.

For many families, the safest and most supportive option is actually:
👉 Clear boundaries
👉 Structured interactions
👉 Sometimes even separation while both the child and the dog learn regulation skills individually

Because co-regulation only works when both sides have the capacity to regulate.

And that takes time, support, and education.

At IronBark DogPark & Encompass Wellbeing, we see both sides,
the beautiful connections… and the hard realities.

Our focus will always be:
✔ Safety first
✔ Education over hype
✔ Supporting families in ways that are actually sustainable

If you’re navigating this space, you’re not failing if it feels hard.
You’re seeing the truth of it.

And you’re not alone.

If you feel that dog interactions could genuinely support you or your child, reach out to us. We can help guide you in a way that is safe, structured, and right for your situation.

Emerging research shows the positive impact dogs can have on children with ADHD.

Dog can help improve social interaction, attention, reduce stress and strengthen daily routines.

Jae Eddison shares how getting a dog made a difference for her sons with ADHD.

✨ International Women’s Day – Scenic Rim ✨

Jo from Encompass Wellbeing felt incredibly proud to be invited to attend the Scenic Rim Council International Women’s Day Breakfast this week.

A special highlight was hearing from guest speaker Bonnie Hancock, who holds the world record for rowing the fastest lap around Australia. Her story of resilience, stamina and courage against all odds was truly inspiring. Bonnie’s reminder to take a pause, look for the beauty in life and reflect on what we can be thankful for resonated strongly with Jo.

Events like this showcase the many incredible women who lead, inspire, support and uplift our local community every single day.

At Encompass Wellbeing, we are proud to stand alongside women who are building stronger communities, creating opportunities for others, and showing the next generation what is possible. 💛
