Together in Pink, Empowered by Hope! 🩷

Bourke is turning pink throughout October, raising awareness and showing our support for everyone impacted by breast cancer.

Then, on Thursday, 12 November, the campaign will finish with a very special Community Pink Day and The Self-Care Co. Pink Party, recognising an incredible 30 years of fundraising in our community.

It’s set to be a fantastic night with cocktails, nibbles, music, guest speakers, raffles, giveaways, gift bags and plenty of pink fun, while raising funds for the McGrath Foundation.

LABOUR DAY | MONDAY 5 OCTOBER

A reminder of Council services for the Labour Day Public Holiday:

🔒 Closed: Council Office, Service NSW, Library & Council Depot
✅ Back O’ Bourke Info & Exhibition Centre: Open 9am–5pm
✅ Waste Depot: Open 10am–6pm
🗑️ Bin collections will run as normal, so please put your bins out as usual.

For urgent water or sewer issues, please contact Council’s Duty Officer on 0419 722 055.

🚧 DOUBLE DEMERITS | DRIVE SAFE

Double demerits start at midnight tonight and continue until 11:59pm Monday 5 October.

NSW Police will be targeting speeding, mobile phone, seatbelt and motorcycle helmet offences throughout the period.

If you’re heading away for the long weekend — slow down, buckle up, put the phone away and arrive safely.

Take care on our roads and enjoy the long weekend.

🩷 LET’S TURN BOURKE PINK! 🩷

Throughout October, the Bourke community is encouraged to wear PINK, decorate PINK and get behind The Self-Care Co.’s Community Pink Awareness Campaign in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Businesses, schools, workplaces, organisations and community members can get involved in any way they can, from wearing pink or decorating your workplace to holding a morning tea, fundraising activity or simply helping spread the word.

Then mark your calendar for Community Pink Day and the Pink Party on Thursday, 12 November 2026!

Bourke Shire Council is seeking community feedback on the Draft Community Safety and Crime Prevention Plan 2026–2030.

The Plan focuses on six priorities:

• Safe children and young people
• Safer homes and businesses
• Safer public places
• Violence and personal safety
• Strong partnerships and community
• Advocacy and accountability

Together, these priorities aim to support a safer, stronger and more connected Bourke Shire.

BOURKE SHIRE MAYORAL ELECTION

Bourke Shire Council advises that Councillor Lachlan Ford has been re-elected as Mayor and Councillor Sally Davis as Deputy Mayor, following uncontested elections held at an Extraordinary Meeting of Council on Monday, 28 September 2026.

Both Councillors will continue in their respective positions for a further two-year term, having served as Mayor and Deputy Mayor for the previous two years.

Council congratulates Councillor Ford and Councillor Davis on their re-election.

Bourke Shire Council is pleased to advise that the Bourke War Memorial Olympic Pool Complex will open for the 2026/2027 swimming season at 10am this Saturday 26 September 2026.

Until Daylight Savings begins on Sunday 4 October, the pool will close at 6pm.

NORMAL OPENING HOURS – DAYLIGHT SAVINGS
Sunday: 10am – 8pm
Monday: 3pm – 8pm
Tuesday–Friday: 12 noon – 8pm
Saturday: 10am – 8pm

Morning swimming:
Monday–Friday | 6am – 8am

2026/27 ADMISSION
General admission – $3
Children 2 years and under – FREE
School groups – $1 per child
Aged pensioners – FREE

SEASON PASSES
Family – $180
Single – $65
Additional family member – $5 each
