Calling all Toddler parents💛
If you’re feeling more confused than ever and your anxiety about your parenting is creeping up, please know you’re not alone, and I’ve designed something just for you.
✨ Introducing my TODDLER MASTERCLASS ✨
A small-group parenting workshop to help you:
🧠 Understand the stage your toddler is in right now
👀 Learn to read their cues
🧩 Problem-solve those chaotic behaviours with calm and confidence
💛 Leave feeling reassured, guided and supported
I’m planning to run these on Sunday mornings in November and early December, before Christmas, for no more than 20 parents.
And now I need YOUR help! 🙏
Do you know a lovely community venue in Collingwood, Fitzroy, Brunswick or Carlton that’s open on Sunday mornings and fits around 20 people? A hall, community room or welcoming space? Drop your suggestions in the comments or send me a DM 💬

Climbing out of the cot? 🧗‍♀️ It might be time for a big bed, but safety comes first.

Once your toddler can roam their room, everything becomes something to explore. Before you make the move, walk through their space and check:

🪑 Nursing chairs: easy to climb and tip
🚼 Change benches: a long way to fall
🗄️ Tallboys and bookshelves: anchor them to the wall. Open drawers become a ladder
🗑️ Nappy bins: keep them out of reach
💡 Lamps: one knock and it smashes. Broken glass and bare feet are never a good mix
📷 Baby cameras: keep cords out of reach and watch for small parts if your little one is still mouthing

You don’t need to empty the room. Just be mindful of anything that could lead to a fall or injury.

A safe room is the best start to a smooth cot-to-bed transition 💛

Less asking, more guiding

Toddlers can become dysregulated very quickly, and too many questions can leave them feeling confused and overwhelmed. They rely on you to calmly guide them through their day.

Instead of asking, gently tell them what’s happening next:

• Instead of “Do you want to go to the park?” → “We’re going to the park. Let’s get our shoes on.”
• Instead of “Are you hungry?” → “It’s morning tea time now.” or “It’s time for lunch.”
• Instead of “Are you tired?” → “I can see you’re rubbing your eyes. Let’s have a cuddle and some special story time so your body can rest and get ready for a good sleep. Sleep helps our bodies grow and feel better.”

Clear, warm direction helps your toddler feel safe, settled and connected. You’re not taking away their voice; you’re giving them the structure they need to manage their day.

Toddlers causing chaos at home? Start with these three questions.

When little ones are melting down, climbing the walls or pushing every boundary, it’s worth pausing to reflect on a few everyday things that make a big difference:

1. How much screen time are they getting?
Screens can overstimulate young brains and leave toddlers wired, irritable and struggling to settle into play. Look honestly at how much they’re watching across the day.

2. How often are you on your phone?
When your toddler is awake and wanting to connect, are they competing with your screen? Toddlers often turn to big behaviour to win back our attention. Putting the phone away during play times can calm things surprisingly quickly.

3. Have they had their five small meals?
Toddlers need around five small meals or snacks spread through the day to keep their fuel up. When their energy runs low, it shows quickly in their behaviour: tears, tantrums and chaos.

Small changes in these three areas can bring more calm into your home. 💛

Why can my toddler do it one day… but not the next? 🤔

Have you noticed some days your toddy is WINNING? You ask them to do 2–3 things, they nail every one, then clap their hands with excitement, beaming and wanting all the praise because they’re SO proud of themselves. 👏

And then other days… they can’t even put their shoes on to get out the door for childcare. 😩

Mumma, this is completely normal toddler behaviour.

👇 If it’s been a few tricky days in a row
Slow it right back down. Ask for just ONE task at a time. This builds their confidence and resilience. Once they’re managing one task regularly, move back up to 2–3. Just expect there’ll still be days they can’t, and that’s okay.

💭 Why does this happen?
Often they’re simply tired or hungry, and their little bodies are dysregulated. A dysregulated toddler can’t follow through, no matter how capable they are on a good day.

⏰ Pick your timing
Toddlers are at their best first thing in the morning, after a restful night’s sleep and a good brekkie in their tummy. By the end of the day their patience is running thin… and I’m guessing yours is too! 😅 Save your 2–3 step requests for when they’re fuelled and rested.

As they grow, slowly build on this with more steps, more detail and more independence. 💛
