After taking a career break to raise my children, I’m now making a big leap back into the workforce by opening my own business. Always learning and growing my knowledge within the travel industry. Today it was Japan in winter - snow season in Hokkaido, Nagano and Gunma Prefecture.

Did you know Nagano is home to over 80 sake breweries? And in Gunma you can go dog sledding (the only place on Honshu you can do it), enjoy kids' snow parks with tubing and sledding, soak in onsens, and even try snowshoeing and hot air ballooning.

Considering Hong Kong with your family?

Most people think of it as a stopover or a business destination, but it’s a great option for family holidays too.

Hong Kong Disneyland is a standout. Being a smaller park, it's easier to navigate, queue times are manageable without extra passes, and you don't need months of planning or a strategy to get through everything you want. It's the most relaxed Disney experiences we've had.

Getting around is straightforward - the MTR, Ding Dings, and taxis cover everything you need. The food is a genuine highlight: egg tarts, bubble waffles, wonton noodles, BBQ meats, and herbal tea the kids will pull a face at but try anyway. There's the challenge of tackling the 268 stairs up to the Big Buddha with an ice cream at the end as your reward. The Peak Tram at dusk gives you the city in daylight and then you watch it come to life at night - albeit while hip-and-shouldering others going for the same view!

A week is the right amount of time, with a couple of days at Disneyland built in. It's not too far from Perth either - just under eight hours on the way over, six on the way back.

If it's been on your radar, give Hong Kong the time it deserves.
