🦅 Alaska – An Adventure They’ll Remember for Years to Come

This week, we're sharing another incredible journey from our Fare Way Travel travellers — a cruise tour through Alaska with an extension to Denali National Park.

They sailed on the 12-Day Denali Explorer aboard Grand Princess, combining the magic of an Alaskan cruise with the chance to venture further inland and experience the incredible wilderness of Denali.

And what an adventure it was! 🇺🇸❄️

🐻 Bears
🫎 Moose
🚁 Helicopter rides
🐕 Dog sledding
⛏️ Gold panning
🦀 Huge Alaskan crab legs
🍔 And plenty of delicious American food along the way!

They explored incredible scenery, experienced some unforgettable adventures and saw wildlife in its natural surroundings. And their verdict?

Alaska is beautiful... and Denali is simply stunning. ❤️

From the breathtaking scenery to the wildlife encounters, the adventures, the food and all those little moments in between, this is one of those trips that creates stories you'll be telling for years to come.

What memories these photos bring back for me - Dog Sledding is an absolute highlight, and one of their stops was Juneau, where they visited the famous Red Dog Saloon — a real piece of Alaskan history and a must-see for many visitors to the city. And that brought back a little memory too... I still have a Red Dog Saloon T-shirt from one of our own visits somewhere! 😂

📸 Thank you to our travellers for sharing your photos and allowing us to share a glimpse of your incredible Alaskan adventure with the Fare Way Travel community.

We love seeing the world through our travellers' eyes — and hearing about the experiences that make a journey truly unforgettable.

Every journey has a story... thank you for letting Fare Way Travel be part of yours. 💙

🇺🇸 Have you been to Alaska?
What was your most memorable experience — the wildlife, the scenery, the glaciers, the food or something completely unexpected?

🌺 Sunday Destination Spotlight - 🇲🇾 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

🎬 You’ve probably seen them before in a movie… but seeing the Petronas Twin Towers in person is something else entirely. ✨

Standing at the foot of these incredible towers, the first thing that struck us was their sheer scale. They are enormous.

And if they look familiar, there’s a good reason. The Petronas Twin Towers featured prominently in the movie Entrapment, including that famous scene high above Kuala Lumpur. 🎬

Of course, seeing them on a movie screen is one thing. Actually standing inside them is another.

We made our way up to the famous Skybridge, the walkway connecting the two towers, and getting to stand up there and look across Kuala Lumpur was pretty spectacular.

But our experience didn't stop there. We continued up to one of the highest visitor levels, where the views gave us a completely different perspective of the city. Looking down at Kuala Lumpur from that height really puts the size of the city into perspective.

And I'll admit, there was definitely a moment of thinking…

“Wow… we are really high up!” 😂

💡 Fare Way Tip:
If you're visiting Kuala Lumpur, don't just stop at ground level for the obligatory photo. If you have the opportunity to go inside the Petronas Twin Towers, the Skybridge and the views from above make the experience so much more memorable.

⭐ Perfect For:
First-time visitors to Kuala Lumpur, architecture lovers, photographers, movie fans and anyone who loves seeing a city from above.

For us, the Petronas Twin Towers were more than just a famous landmark we'd seen in a movie.

They were one of those places where you finally see it in real life and realise just how impressive it actually is. ❤️

Have you seen the Petronas Twin Towers in person — or do you remember them from Entrapment? 🎬🏙️

Where are we taking you next Sunday? You'll have to wait and see… 🌍😉

🧩 TRAVEL RIDDLE THURSDAY — ANSWERS! ✈️🌍
How did you go with our Travel Riddle Challenge?

Here are the answers! 👇

1️⃣ Bridge of Sighs – Venice 🇮🇹
Built to connect the historic prison with the Doge’s Palace, it crosses the Rio di Palazzo and is one of Venice’s most photographed bridges.

2️⃣ The Black Sea 🌊
Its name certainly sounds a little ominous! 😄 The Black Sea is surrounded by several countries and its name comes from its distinctive dark appearance.

3️⃣ The Colosseum – Rome 🇮🇹
You don't need to enter a traditional building to explore it. This ancient amphitheatre once hosted huge crowds watching gladiatorial contests and other spectacles.

4️⃣ The Leaning Tower of Pisa 🇮🇹
It doesn't actually “fall” — it leans! And of course, one of the most popular tourist photos is pretending to hold it up. 📸

5️⃣ The Panama Canal 🇵🇦
A man-made waterway connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. It saves ships from making the much longer journey around the southern tip of South America.

6️⃣ The Rocky Mountaineer 🇨🇦🚆
A journey where the scenery really is the star. Travellers experience some spectacular mountain landscapes from the comfort of a scenic train.

7️⃣ The Sunset 🌅
It disappears twice every day — once in the evening and, depending on how you interpret the riddle, it returns the following day. Travellers around the world plan their adventures around catching the perfect sunset.

8️⃣ Istanbul 🇹🇷
A city at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, with a fascinating history and several names across the centuries — including Constantinople and Byzantium.

🏆 How many did you get right?

Tell us your score in the comments! 👇

And be honest…was it harder than usual? 😜

An update for those travelling to Fiji - The Fiji Government, has confirmed that the Tourism Services Tax (TST) will apply only to new bookings made on or after 1 September 2026.

Bookings made before 1 September 2026 will not be subject to TST, even where the tourism service is provided after that date. This provides certainty for visitors and enables tourism operators to honour existing bookings and contractual arrangements.https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1MXTYxF3Ff/

PRACTICAL TRANSITION FOR TOURISM SERVICES TAX CONFIRMED

Following constructive discussions between the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation , and the Tourism Action Group, the Fiji Government, has confirmed that the Tourism Services Tax (TST) will apply only to new bookings made on or after 1 September 2026.

Bookings made before 1 September 2026 will not be subject to TST, even where the tourism service is provided after that date. This provides certainty for visitors and enables tourism operators to honour existing bookings and contractual arrangements.

The TST will apply to qualifying tourism operators and services, as defined under the Tourism Services Tax Act 2026, from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027.

This practical transition reflects the Government’s recognition of tourism’s vital contribution to Fiji’s economy, employment, businesses and communities. It also demonstrates the Government’s commitment to listening to the industry and working collaboratively on policies that support sustainable economic growth.

Government acknowledges and thanks Fiji’s tourism operators, industry partners and workers for their continued resilience and commitment to delivering the warm hospitality for which Fiji is renowned.

Appreciation is also extended to visitors from Australia, New Zealand and countries around the world who continue to choose Fiji. Your ongoing patronage supports thousands of Fijian families and strengthens the communities that make Fiji such a special destination.

Fiji Revenue and Customs Service will issue updated guidance and work closely with tourism stakeholders to support a clear and smooth implementation from 1 September 2026.

Fiji remains open, welcoming and ready to share its renowned hospitality with the world.

🚢 CRUISE SMART TUESDAY

One of the first things I do when I book a cruise is check whether the cruise line has an app.

And if they do, I download it before I leave home.

It might seem like a little thing, but once you're onboard, that app can become one of the most useful tools you have.

Depending on your cruise line, you may be able to use the app to:

📱 Complete or check your online check-in

🛳️ View your itinerary and port information

🍽️ Make or manage dining reservations

🎭 Check entertainment and activities

🌴 Look at shore excursions

📅 See what's happening each day once you're onboard

💳 Access useful booking or onboard information

The important thing is don't wait until you're standing at the cruise terminal to work it all out.

Download it at home, log in, have a look around and make sure you understand where everything is.

Some cruise line apps are incredibly simple.

Others have a LOT going on.

And there's nothing worse than trying to work out a new app when you're excited, surrounded by hundreds of other passengers and just wanting to get on the ship! 😂

💙 The Fare Way Tip

I've found it's worth spending 10 minutes exploring the app before your cruise.

You don't need to become an expert.

Just knowing where to find your itinerary, daily activities and important information can make your first day onboard much easier.

Do you use your cruise line's app when you cruise — or do you prefer the old-fashioned daily planner?

And if there's another cruise question you'd like me to cover in a future Cruise Smart Tuesday, let me know. ⚓️

🇻🇳 Da Nang & Hoi An – A Perfect Mix of Relaxation, Adventure & Amazing Food and Culture.

This week, we're sharing another wonderful adventure from one of our Fare Way Travel travellers, who has recently returned from Vietnam, spending time in both Da Nang and Hoi An — and it sounds like Alice made the most of every moment!

🏖️ First stop – Da Nang

There was plenty of time to simply relax and enjoy the beautiful beach, along with some well-deserved spas and massages. But it wasn't all about relaxing! She also managed to fit in a round of golf at Ba Na Hills Golf Club, visited the spectacular Ba Na Hills, enjoyed some incredible Vietnamese food and, of course, found time for a cocktail or two. 🍹

Then it was off to🏮 Hoi An

Alice explored the atmospheric Old City, discovered some amazing restaurants and joined a food tour and cooking class, getting to experience Vietnamese food from both sides of the table.

She also took a historical tour of Hoi An with a local guide, learning more about the fascinating history and stories behind this beautiful UNESCO-listed town.

🍜 From incredible food and culture to golf, sightseeing, massages, beaches and a few cocktails along the way, this trip really did have a little bit of everything.

And most importantly...

❤️ She absolutely loved her time in Vietnam!

Thank you for sharing your Vietnam adventure with the Fare Way Travel community. We love seeing how our travellers experience a destination in their own way — and showing that sometimes the best holidays are the ones that combine a little bit of everything.

Every journey has a story... thank you for letting Fare Way Travel be part of yours. 💙

🇻🇳 Have you visited Da Nang or Hoi An?
What would be at the top of your list — the food, beaches, history, golf, culture... or perhaps a relaxing massage and a cocktail? 😉
