🌞 Step Aboard on a beautiful Day! 🚢

At River City Cruises, we love sharing the rich history of the Brisbane River. This beautiful waterway has always been the heart of our community, a social hub where locals and visitors have gathered for outings, day trips, and time together on the water.

In the early days, paddle steamers like the Natone, the Louisa, and the Beaver were prominent vessels on the river. They originally served industrial roles, but in later years many of these hardworking boats were also repurposed for tourist outings, giving Brisbane locals a chance to enjoy leisurely trips along the river. By the time Expo ’88 arrived, the Kookaburra Queens continued that tradition of river tourism and became iconic Brisbane favourites.

As for us, we were built in 1966 by Hughie Morris right here in Brisbane, and we’ve proudly continued that tradition of river cruising ever since.

We can’t wait to welcome you aboard and share this wonderful slice of Brisbane’s river history with you.

When you book directly, you keep your money local and support a Brisbane‑based small business. International booking agents work perfectly well, but booking direct means your dollars stay in the city and contribute to local revenue. You also get real person‑to‑person communication for bookings and changes... not chatbots, not multi‑step verification processes, just straightforward human service when needed most.

BREAKFAST CREEK -

Breakfast Creek and Newstead Parklands has always been one of Brisbane’s great river stories, from its Indigenous name Yowoggera to the moment John Oxley named the creek in 1824 after a lively encounter with local Aboriginal people while eating breakfast on its banks.

The area later became home to Newstead House, Brisbane’s oldest surviving residence, standing watch over the river since 1846 and witnessing the growth of the city around it.

Not far downstream sits the iconic Breakfast Creek Hotel, built in 1889 in grand French Renaissance style. It remains one of Brisbane’s most famous pubs, known for its b**r served off the wood and its legendary steaks.

And yes, we cruise there daily for lunch from South Bank. A relaxing run down the river, a historic pub, and a cold drink waiting at the end.

See Brisbane the way it was meant to be seen... from the water.

After three big weeks in the yard, we’re finally back on the river! A lot of structural work, electrical upgrades and cosmetic improvements have gone into the vessel, and we’re absolutely loving the new look. We’ve gone for that classic timber style throughout, and she’s looking better than ever.

We’re excited to keep bringing this old girl back to her former glory. What do you think of the new look?
