Tonight, one of our drivers was bringing a group of VIP passengers into Melbourne for a conference, fresh off a flight from the UK, literally halfway around the world, when a vehicle decided it wanted his lane more than he did — at 100km/h.
No time to think. Just react. And that's exactly what he did.
A split-second mirror check, a defensive move into the next lane, and everyone on board was kept safe. It could have gone very differently if that lane hadn't been clear, but that's exactly why we don't leave this to luck. Years of experience is what makes a driver check the mirror in that half a second instead of freezing. Our passengers were genuinely grateful, and honestly, so are we.
This is what proper training and real driving experience looks like in the moment it actually matters. It's not something you can fake and it's not something a rideshare app can guarantee.
It's also a reminder of why this trip wasn't a hire car they drove themselves, jet-lagged, on unfamiliar roads, or a rideshare with a driver who has no training for a moment like this. A professional driver has done this drive hundreds of times, knows the road, and has the experience to react correctly under pressure rather than just react. That difference isn't something you notice until the one moment it actually matters, and by then it's too late to wish you'd chosen differently.
