Southbound and heading back to preload for next week’s adventure.
Currently parked on the side of the highway having a mandatory break because apparently the government believes sitting in a truck seat all day is exhausting. 😏 Well it can be, But definitely is Mentally and Emotionally.
To make matters worse, I’m now watching the same caravan cruise past that took me about 30 minutes and a favourable tailwind to get around. If you’re a truckie, you’ll understand the emotional damage that causes. 😂
But in all seriousness, it’s the last day before the long weekend and double demerits are in full swing. Whether you’re driving a truck, car, ute, caravan, spaceship or whatever else you’ve managed to register, let’s all keep it safe and get home to our families.
One thing I’ve always wanted The Typical Trucker to stand for is community. Out here on the highway, we’re more than just drivers. We’re a family. We share the same roads, the same frustrations, the same roadworks that somehow never seem to finish, and the same battles that nobody else sees.
The road can be a lonely place. Sometimes the bloke sitting next to you at a servo, or the driver parked beside you at a rest area, might be carrying more weight on their shoulders than what’s written on their load restraint paperwork.
So don’t be afraid to say g’day. Have a chat. Share a laugh. Complain about caravans. Debate who has the worst reversing skills in the truck stop.
You never know what someone is going through, and a five-minute conversation might be the thing that changes their entire day.
Stay safe this long weekend, look after each other, and remember… if you see me parked up having a break, there’s a 90% chance I’m either eating, sleeping, or still trying to get over that caravan that got back in front of me. 😂
Have a great weekend everyone. And keep an eye on the page…
