QSL will again seek constitutional reform at its October AGM.

QSL CEO Mark Hampson said it’s time for businesses that compete with QSL and choose not to market their own sugar through the organisation to stop blocking decisions supported by the growers and millers who do.

ICE 11 raw sugar futures ended the week broadly unchanged from the previous Friday’s close, despite significant volatility throughout the week. On Friday alone, the prompt October 2026 contract traded within a 1.22 USc/lb range. Prices initially surged to fresh highs on technical buying after breaking through previous resistance levels. However, the move quickly ran out of momentum, attracting substantial commercial selling and profit-taking that pushed prices back from their highs by the close.

📈 Specs drive sugar higher

Speculative buying remains a key driver of the recent rally, with the speculative position moving net long for the first time since December 2024. Speculators have likely been aggressively buying back short positions, while an increase in open interest, particularly against the March 2027 contract, suggests new speculative buying is also entering the market.
