RO-RO may allow an operable machine to be driven aboard. Some non-running equipment can also travel on a roll trailer, subject to carrier approval.

Another specialised project cargo movement completed from New Zealand to Australia.

Kenter coordinated the movement of two Borger GMK5150 crane support trailers from Hamilton, NZ, through the Port of Auckland and across to Port Kembla, NSW using RoRo shipping.

From freight coordination and booking through to Australian customs clearance, vessel monitoring and cargo release, the shipment was managed through each stage of the journey.

✅ Two specialised trailers moved successfully
✅ Damage-free cargo movement
✅ Completed to the planned shipping schedule

A heads-up for anyone importing from China this year: Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Golden Week land close together, and carriers are already cancelling sailings around the period.

That usually means rolled bookings and vessels arriving in clusters — which puts real pressure on customs and quarantine clearance, especially for heavy machinery.

This oversized piece of machinery didn't fit in a standard box — so it went out on a flat rack instead, secured and lashed to maritime regulations before it left the depot.

Down to the wire — and still made the boat.

This Hitachi Zaxis 350 came in from the Ritchie Bros yard in Yatala and needed to be export-ready fast. Because we're right near the Port of Brisbane, our team mobilised last minute — including swapping out faulty batteries so the machine would start every single time it needed to move on and off the ship.

Small thing, big deal: a machine that won't start on a RO-RO vessel can hold up the whole ship, and if it's connecting through another port it can miss that next vessel entirely — we've had one arrive 2 months late before because of it.

This one made it on time and on budget. Nice work, Rick and the Kenter Operations crew!
