One afternoon tea conversation built our entire new business vertical.

Two brothers walked into my office nearly two years ago. Stressed, frustrated, nearly out of patience.

Their transport provider was disrupting their business across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Containers arriving late, sometimes without notice... sometimes not at all.

They were hesitant to switch because not many transport companies cover all three states, and their rates were dirt cheap.

I told them straight up: "I can't beat those prices. But I can give you the service your company actually needs."

They took the leap.

Within a year their entire container operation was running smooth. So smooth that when they dropped by my home for tea one afternoon, they casually mentioned: "It'd be good if you could help us with slab deliveries too. That's become our weak link now."

I didn't take that comment lightly.

Spent months learning the stone slab industry from scratch. Hired a new allocator and specialist driver. Developed a custom slab freight tracking system because nothing like it existed in the market.

Right before Christmas last year we rolled out a custom-built slab truck. Just for them.

Today?

We've gone from helping one customer to servicing over 20 slab customers. Our 4th specialized truck hits the road this month, and the brothers who started it all just placed their biggest order yet.

All because someone was willing to listen during an afternoon tea break.

The best business opportunities aren't hiding in market research or competitor analysis. They're sitting right there in conversations with the customers who already trust you.

Like this if you've found your next opportunity by simply listening 👂 What's the most unexpected business idea that came from a casual customer conversation?

The question that changed how we handle every Monday at Lev Logistics.

Instead of starting our week asking "what fires need putting out?" we switched to "who needs our best this week?"

Simple change.

But it completely shifted how we operate.

Now every Monday morning, my team and I sit down with coffee and work through three questions:

→ Who needs our best this week?
→ Where can we go above and beyond?
→ What small things can we do that others won't?

Because here's what I've learned after building this business from zero to 12 people in two years... stuff always goes wrong in transport.

Containers get delayed at the ports. Weather shuts down operations. Equipment breaks when you need it most.

But how fast you pick up the phone?

How clearly you explain what's happening and what you're doing about it?

How hard you fight to find alternatives when Plan A falls apart?

That's where real trust gets built. And that separates companies that grow from those just surviving.

The shipping lines and freight forwarders we work with tell us the same thing - they don't just want containers moved, they want partners who actually give a damn about their success.

Monday used to feel heavy.

Now it feels like opportunity.

What's your Monday approach? Comment below if you've found something that works... always looking to learn from other business owners.

Business Dad’s Roundtable 👔👨‍👧‍👧

Loved today’s session at CUB with other business dads — sharing stories, tips, and laughs. It can feel like a lonely road when few people in your circle understand the juggle… so this was gold.

I had to leave the session early to pick up my 5yo daughter from after school care, then get home and bathe, read a book and do bedtime with my 1yo daughter, then help my 5yo finish dinner and do her bedtime routine..and now I’m back at work after 9pm.

Sounds like complaining right? (It is a little 🤣)

But all of us dads agreed in the session - we’re so lucky to have all of these things and privileged to be able to complain about them.

Because one day, I’ll sing Let It Go for the last time… change my daughter’s nappy for the last time… and I won’t even know it’s the last time. 😭

Wouldn’t change a thing. 💪❤️

From logistics chaos to supply chain clarity.

Stone industry clients went from managing two transport relationships, twice the communication, and double the potential problems to one streamlined operation. Same results, half the complexity.

Here's what changed.

We just became the only transport company in Australia that handles both shipping containers and stone slabs with the specialist equipment these jobs actually need.

For stone manufacturers and distributors... this shifts how you think about your entire supply chain.

Before: Container transport with Company A, stone slab transport with Company B. Two different invoices showing up, two phone calls when something goes sideways, two completely different service standards to manage.

Now?

One partner. One conversation when you need something handled. One point of accountability when deadlines matter.

Full container loads moving across Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth. Plus delicate stone slab transport with the specialist care these materials demand.

When you're coordinating complex supply chains, fewer moving parts means fewer opportunities for things to break down. And when something does need immediate attention, you're calling us.

Not them, then us, then back to them again while your delivery sits somewhere in limbo.

We've seen too many stone industry operations get caught juggling multiple transport relationships that should work together but don't. The communication gaps alone cost time and money.

If you're in the stone industry and ready to simplify how your logistics actually work, let's have a conversation about your supply chain.

Like this if you've ever been frustrated managing multiple logistics providers, and comment below with your biggest transport headache. We might have a solution.

My logistics team sees me eating microwave meals in elevators.

Instead of thinking I'm unprofessional, they get it. We're all choosing momentum over comfort, progress over polish, and it shows in our 100% year-on-year growth.

Yesterday was one of those days. Racing between our Bundoora office, warehouse inspections in Laverton and a shipping line meeting in the CBD, lunch became a container of leftover pasta heated in our tiny office microwave.

Eaten standing up. In a lift. Between floors.

Andrew, my operations manager, walked past and just gave me that look. The one that says "yeah, I get it."

Because he does.

This is what building Lev Logistics actually looks like... not the polished LinkedIn version where every meal is a "working lunch" in a glass conference room.

The real version.

Where your biggest breakthrough of the day happens while you're holding a plastic fork and tracking container movements on your phone. Where growth means choosing speed over appearances, every single time.

When we started two years ago, I thought success would look different. More boardrooms, less cold pasta, definitely better lighting.

But the moments that actually move the business forward? They happen in transit. Between client calls. In depot offices where we're solving container transport puzzles that seemed impossible last week.

My team sees this reality every day and they respect it because they're living it too. That's how you build a culture where everyone understands that effective work rarely looks professional from the outside.

But it gets results.

Like & comment if you've ever had a "lunch" that barely qualified as food 😄 What's your most unglamorous work moment that actually moved things forward?

This is my WHOOP age.
According to the data, I’m biologically almost 4 years older than my actual age.

Honestly? That tracks.

Since becoming a business owner and a dad of girls, I’ve felt like I’ve aged five years every year.
This is just the scientific proof to back it up. 😂

Entrepreneurship might sound glamorous - but the reality is a cocktail of:
😵 Stress
😴 Broken sleep
💻 Constant decisions
🍼 Teething
🚛 People issues
👨‍👧‍👧 “Dad, can you play with me?”

Self-care? That one’s on the waitlist.

But truthfully…
Wouldn’t trade it for the world.
Because every year that “ages” me is one that’s building something that matters. For my team, my family, and my girls.

The sexy side of entrepreneurship?
You’re looking at it. 40.9 and thriving (kind of).

I used to judge people who posted business content daily.

"Look at them trying to be influencers," I'd think, scrolling past another logistics post.

Classic.

Then I started Lev Logistics two years ago and realized those "attention-seeking" posts were actually smart business moves. Every shipping line partnership, every new customer, every team member we've hired... lots came through connections made online.

The people making snide comments about "becoming famous"?

Same ones who later ask how we grew 100% year-on-year while they're still struggling to get their name out there.

Here's what really happens when you post regularly about your industry. You attract the right people. Freight forwarders who need reliable transport. Importers looking for someone who actually responds to messages. Partners who value transparency.

When someone in Melbourne needs container transport, they think of us first.

Not because we're "influencers" but because we showed up consistently.

The critics? They stay on the sidelines wondering why opportunities pass them by.

Look, I get it. Putting your business out there feels uncomfortable at first. But when you're genuinely trying to provide value, connect with your industry, and grow something real... why wouldn't you share that journey?

Don't be the person watching and judging.

Do the actual work.

Yellow and blue. A lion and a heart. This is more than just a logo...

I wanted our company symbol to carry real MEANING and HERITAGE.

The yellow and blue? They're the colors of Ukraine, where I was born.

The lion represents my surname, Lev - the Ukrainian word for "lion."

But there's more...

The heart shape carries another layer of meaning: Lev in Hebrew translates to "heart."

Three cultures, two meanings, one symbol.

Our Lionheart represents everything we stand for at Lev Logistics: STRENGTH, passion, and deep connection to our roots.

🦁 What meaning does your company's logo carry?

I was homeless in China with just a laptop and a suitcase...

Sleeping in a 24-hour Starbucks.
No money.
No connections.
Just PURE DETERMINATION.

That wasn't my only battle:

Lost over $1 million to theft.
Underwent emergency back surgery.
Started from zero. Multiple times.

People think success comes from being the smartest person in the room.

But intelligence didn't build Lev Logistics.

RESILIENCE did.

One container.
One client.
One victory at a time.

Because you only truly fail when you give up.

And we don't do that here.

The deadliest sound in logistics?

Radio silence.

Most partnerships don't end with a bang. They fade away in unopened emails and unreturned calls.

In container transport, COMMUNICATION isn't just nice-to-have. It's everything.

Because when silence creeps in:
• Containers get missed
• Deadlines slip
• Trust evaporates

At Lev Logistics, we're not perfect. But we're PRESENT.

✅ We answer
✅ We follow up
✅ We own the outcome

Even when news isn't ideal, we deliver it fast - with solutions ready.
