If the Canadian Rockies and Alaska are on your travel wish list, I can’t recommend them highly enough!

I’ve now been lucky enough to experience this region in so many different ways - Inside Passage cruises, an Alaska land journey, the Rocky Mountaineer, self-driving and ferries and I keep coming back for a reason. No matter how you choose to explore, the scenery, wildlife and experiences are simply unforgettable.

But for now, it’s home time... catch you back in the office and on emails from Monday✌️

My journey from Vancouver to Banff via Kamloops on the Rocky Mountaineer 🚂

🏨 Overnight stay: Delta Hotels by Marriott Kamloops

GoldLeaf gives you access to the stunning bi-level dome carriage, along with an outdoor viewing platform on the lower level. It’s the perfect place to stretch your legs, get some fresh air, and enjoy the incredible scenery. (The seats are very comfortable, but it is a 2 day journey!)

Breakfast and lunch are served in the dining carriage (and the food is amazing!), while snacks and drinks are delivered straight to your seat throughout the day.

The overnight stop in Kamloops is also incredibly well organised. The transition from the train to the hotel and back again the following morning is completely seamless, with your luggage taken care of every step of the way.

The scenery is constantly changing, from lush green forests to dry, rugged landscapes, with some areas sadly showing the impact of this year’s wildfires.

Rail travel is such a relaxing and scenic way to explore, and the iconic Rocky Mountaineer certainly lives up to its reputation!

🐋 Watching humpback whales bubble-net feeding

🥣 Seafood chowder at The Hangar on the Wharf

🍸 Gin cocktails at Amalga Distillery

🍩 Donuts from Jellyfish Donuts

🥾 Hiking the Perseverance Trail

🍝 Dinner at In Bocca al Lupo

♨️ Relaxing in the hot tub at the Silverbow Inn

It was back on the bikes for the Storytelling & E-Bikes tour, cycling along the scenic shoreline of Lutak Inlet while stopping along the way to learn about the town’s fascinating history, culture and local way of life.

The ride was packed with incredible wildlife sightings, including salmon in the water, bald eagles perched high in the trees, and even a curious seal popping up as we rode by 🦅🦭

It was another beautiful sunny day and the perfect way to experience this historic Alaskan town!

Inian Islands & Icy Strait, Alaska 🇺🇸

This morning was spent out on deck, scenic cruising through the Inian Islands. The weather was beautiful, and we had plenty of whale sightings!

In the afternoon, we explored Hoonah and the Spasski River in search of bears… on foot! 😳 We were lucky enough to spot two bears from a safe distance. The rainforest was beautiful, and we also spotted bald eagles and a red squirrel along the way.

One of the highlights of the day was learning about the rich culture and traditions of the Tlingit people, whose connection to this land spans thousands of years.

Back on board, we rounded off another incredible day with Seabourn’s signature cocktails at Solis Bar before enjoying dinner at the sushi restaurant 😍

Hubbard Glacier 🇺🇸

Today was all about scenic cruising through one of Alaska’s most spectacular natural wonders - Hubbard Glacier.

The morning began with thick fog as we waited for the glacier to emerge. Before long, the skies cleared and it turned into a beautiful Alaskan day, giving us incredible views of the towering blue ice and the surrounding snow-capped mountains.

A day well spent relaxing on our balcony in the sunshine, reading, and admiring the breathtaking glacier views ✨

After a quick 10-minute tender ride ashore, we spent the morning exploring at our own pace. We wandered through the shops and galleries along Lincoln Street, visited St. Michael’s Church, walked among the impressive totem poles in Sitka National Historical Park, and stopped by the Alaska Raptor Center to learn about the incredible work they do rehabilitating injured birds of prey 🦅

Back onboard, the rain cleared just in time for a relaxed, sunny poolside lunch!

Before dinner, we enjoyed one of Seabourn’s signature traditions - caviar and cocktails while sailing away from another beautiful Alaskan port ✨

The first port stop onboard the beautiful Seabourn Encore was the colourful town of Ketchikan.

This morning I embarked on the Wilderness Zodiac Quest, where I got to drive my own Zodiac through the peaceful inlets in search of wildlife. We spotted a whale, seals and bald eagles, which made for a fun and successful morning 🚤😆

After the tour, it was time for the obligatory wander along historic Creek Street before heading back onboard to escape the cold, drizzly weather with a delicious bowl of ramen at the sushi restaurant!

Before dinner, we enjoyed one of Seabourn’s signature experiences - caviar served on our balcony while sailing away from Ketchikan. The perfect way to end a fantastic first port day in Alaska ✨

Tomorrow we arrive in Sitka… stay tuned! 🚢❄️

It doesn’t matter how many times you visit this city - there’s always something new to discover.

This visit, I explored Yaletown, rode bikes around Stanley Park, the Seawall and Beaver Lake, and experienced FlyOver.

I stayed at the Fairmont Pacific Rim, perfectly located beside Canada Place and an ideal base for exploring Vancouver on foot. The rooms are spacious and have all the amenities you could need, both in your room and throughout the hotel.

Hot tip: Vancouver is known for its sushi, and The Lobby Lounge & RawBar at the Fairmont Pacific Rim serves some of the best in the city. I can confirm it’s absolutely worth the hype!

Now it’s time to board the beautiful Seabourn Encore and continue the adventure north to Alaska 🚢❄️
