Update for South Africa:
As of 1 July 2026, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) requires all travellers entering or departing South Africa to complete a mandatory online Traveller Declaration before travelling.
This declaration forms part of the Customs process and allows travellers to meet their legal obligation to declare goods, currency, and any other relevant items being brought into or taken out of South Africa.
What You Need to Know
• Applies to: All travellers entering or departing South Africa by air, land or sea.
• When to complete it: Before your journey starts.
• Purpose: To declare goods, currency, and other items carried across South African borders as part of Customs requirements. (South African Revenue Service)
