βš“ A great marina experience isn’t only about what happens on the water. The little things shoreside matter too.

Home to 261 berths, Cairns Marlin Marina supports a diverse mix of recreational vessels, tourism operators and visiting superyachts.

Behind the scenes, there’s always plenty happening to keep the marina welcoming, comfortable and looking its best. From everyday maintenance through to ongoing improvements, it’s all part of looking after a busy working marina.

Recently, the laundry facilities at Marina Point have had a refresh, with the bathrooms soon to follow suit, while boardwalk renewal works continue across the precinct.

They might be some of the smaller jobs happening around the marina, but together they make a real difference to the experience of our berth holders, crews and visitors.

Boardwalk Works - Marine Dining Precinct

From 12 October, rehabilitation works will commence on the Marine Dining Precinct section of the Cairns Boardwalk, marking the final stage of a boardwalk renewal program that has been underway for more than three years.

The works include replacing timber decking and supporting joists, along with maintenance to steel elements, helping extend the life of this much-loved waterfront destination for residents and visitors alike.

While some temporary pedestrian diversions may be in place during construction, the Boardwalk and all restaurants will remain open and accessible throughout the works.

We thank the community for its patience and support as we undertake these important improvements to help preserve and maintain our waterfront destination for future generations to enjoy.

🚒 The official cruise season starts next month, but we're already dusting off the welcome mat.

This week we're welcoming back Carnival Encounter and Coral Discoverer to Cairns, bringing two very different cruise experiences and a fresh wave of visitors to the region.

While the ships often grab the headlines, the visitor experience starts on the ground. A special shout-out to our volunteer ambassadors, who are often the first friendly faces passengers meet, sharing local knowledge and helping visitors find their feet in Cairns.

They're backed by bus drivers, tour operators, guides, hospitality businesses and waterfront teams who help turn a day or two ashore into a memorable Far North Queensland experience.

The ships are back, the welcome mats are out, and Cairns is ready to do what it does best, welcome visitors. πŸŒ΄β˜€οΈπŸš’

Bringing together crews, vessels and anglers from across Australia and around the world, the Black Marlin tournament celebrates the spirit, skill and camaraderie that have helped establish Far North Queensland as one of the world's premier game fishing destinations.

Over the next four days, crews will head to the Reef for world-class fishing while strengthening the connections that unite captains, crew, marine businesses and the wider community.

A special shout-out to our own Ports North cadet and keen angler Seb Grillo, who is taking part in his first Cairns Black Marlin Tournament. We're all behind you, Seb, and wish you every success, plenty of memorable moments and a fantastic few days on the water.

Good luck to all competitors - wishing you a terrific tournament!

This week, our team has joined forces with Tourism Tropical North Queensland (TTNQ) at the Australian Cruise Association Conference, connecting with cruise industry leaders, destinations, ports and tourism operators from across Australia and the South Pacific. 🚒🌴

It's been a valuable few days of building relationships, sharing ideas and exploring opportunities that support the future of cruise tourism in our region. 🀝

The conference has provided an excellent platform to showcase the experiences, communities and destinations that make Tropical North Queensland so unique. πŸ“

It's also been an opportunity to highlight the continued growth potential of the Port of Cairns βš“, emerging opportunities for cruise visitation at the Port of Mourilyan 🌊, and the ongoing development of Thursday Island as a distinctive gateway to the Torres Strait 🏝️.

By working collaboratively with cruise lines, tourism partners and fellow destinations, we're helping showcase the best of Tropical North Queensland while building relationships that can support future opportunities for our ports, communities and local businesses. 🌏

It's exciting to see growing interest in our region and to be part of the conversations shaping the next chapter of cruise tourism across Far North Queensland.

🌱 Growing healthier coastal ecosystems, one seagrass shoot at a time.

With blue skies and perfect conditions, Ports North joined JCU: James Cook University,TropWATER, OzFish and the Gimuy Walubara Yidinji Rangers today to prepare 1,600 Zostera muelleri seagrass shoots for restoration work around Cairns Marlin Marina today.

Together, the team attached seagrass shoots to small anchors, filling 40 buckets ready for planting tomorrow in an area where seagrass habitat is greatly needed.

This partnership is now in its fourth year and we're already seeing positive restoration results in Cairns. The team heads to Mourilyan tomorrow to do it all again, to restore much needed seagrass -important habitat for fish, turtles, dugongs and other marine life.

A big thank you to everyone who rolled up their sleeves to help today. Partnerships like these demonstrate the power of communities, researchers, Traditional Owners and industry working together towards a shared goal.πŸ’šπŸŒŠ

β›΅ Oyster World Rally Arrives in Cairns

This week, Cairns Marlin Marina welcomes 19 stunning Oyster yachts taking part in the fifth Oyster World Rally, an extraordinary 16-month sailing adventure around the globe.

Despite the name, the Oyster World Rally has nothing to do with oysters. It's named after the beautiful Oyster yachts taking part, luxury sailing vessels built for long-distance ocean adventures.

Starting in Antigua in January 2026, participants are undertaking a 16 month journey across 27 destinations, carefully timed to make the most of global weather and wind patterns. By the time they arrive in Cairns, they’ll be around halfway through an adventure that will see them sail more than 27,000 nautical miles before returning to where it all began.

After thousands of nautical miles at sea, it's great to see these beatuiful yachts in Cairns before continuing their journey around the world.β›΅β˜€οΈ

βš“ Superyacht season is in full swing in Cairns, and while the vessels are a spectacular sight, it's the benefits flowing through local businesses and communities that make these visits so valuable.

From the businesses supplying fuel and provisions to the marine experts providing maintenance and support services, many local operators play an important role in every superyacht visit.

These visits also bring opportunities for tourism operators, accommodation providers and hospitality businesses across the region.

It's great to see local businesses sharing in the benefits and showcasing the skills and services that make Cairns a sought-after destination for superyachts.
