While we often focus on Tasmania's Southwest, another exceptional experience is our Wineglass and Wildlife Tour.
Begin with a spectacular flight over Freycinet National Park, where you'll take in breathtaking views of pink granite peaks, secluded bays, crystal-clear waters, and pristine white-sand beaches. The highlight is the world-famous Wineglass Bay, whose crescent-shaped shoreline is even more impressive from the air.
The journey continues over Île des Phoques, home to a thriving seal colony, before arriving at Maria Island National Park.
Maria Island is one of Tasmania's premier wildlife destinations, offering the chance to see wombats, kangaroos, Cape Barren geese, and rare bird species such as the swift parrot in their natural habitat.
Enjoy approximately 90 minutes on the island, including a gourmet lunch showcasing local Tasmanian produce and wine. After your island experience, relax on the scenic flight back to Hobart, taking in more of Tasmania's stunning east coast from above.
This tour perfectly combines Tasmania's most iconic coastal scenery, remarkable wildlife, and outstanding local food and wine into one unforgettable day.

Last week, I left the office behind and flew down to the Southwest for what turned out to be a truly spectacular day.

The highlight? An unexpected visit from a pod of dolphins that made an already incredible day even better.

Meet the Guides: Callum

My name is Callum Wells, and I’ve been fortunate to spend more than two decades returning to Tasmania’s remote south-west wilderness.

Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of sitting in the co-pilot’s seat beside my grandfather, Don Wells, as he guided the plane onto the small quartzite airstrip at Melaleuca. From above, the vast landscape seemed endless, a place unlike anywhere else in the world, or at least that’s what my Dad would say anyway.

It wasn’t until my early twenties that I truly began to understand and appreciate the magic of the South West, It seems there is some kind of calming properties in listening to the Roaring Forties sweeping across the landscape.

My father, Greg, who has been guiding in the Toogelow / Port Davey region for more than thirty years, is the reason behind my love and passion for remote, untouched areas. His gift for storytelling, his deep respect for Aboriginal culture, his knowledge of history, and his commitment to conservation have all played a significant role in shaping who I am today.

For the past five years, I have been guiding in the remote wilderness of the Kimberley in northern Western Australia. Yet every summer I feel the South West calling me home. Perhaps there is something in those tannin-stained waters that keeps me longing to return…

Meet the Guides: Dave

After years spent sailing and crafting sails for everything from Olympic dinghies and 18-foot skiffs to America's Cup yachts, Dave discovered a new passion closer to home - the wild, remote beauty of Tasmania's southwest.

For the past decade, he's been sharing his favourite corner of Tassie with Par Avion guests, offering a truly unique perspective on this remarkable landscape.

If there's one thing Dave loves, it's combining boats, bush, Bathurst Harbour... and more boats (did he mention boats?).

He enjoys the area most when the weather puts on a decent “Bathurst Buzz”. (Sunshine is for sissies!).

Please note - No animals were harmed - Dave’s odds, however, are declining rapidly.

Meet the Guides: Tim

I’m 66 years old and have lived in Tasmania for nearly forty years, where I’ve raised two wonderful daughters and now enjoy time with my two grandchildren.

Much of my life has been spent exploring the wilds of Southwest Tasmania and other remote regions around the world, both for work and recreation - yet there are still many places here I’m yet to discover, whether on foot or by water.

I began guiding bushwalks on the Southwest Cape and South Coast tracks back in 1987, and I’ve kept coming back ever since. The raw wildness of the landscape, its ever-changing weather and the deep sense of history continue to inspire me.

Guiding allows me to blend work and play in my favourite place on Earth, and I feel lucky to share it with others - helping guests on Par Avion tours develop their own connection to this extraordinary region and to wild places more broadly.

One moment that perfectly captures its magic for me was seeing Bathurst Harbour in absolute mirror-calm conditions on a completely windless, sunny day - an experience that stays with you for a lifetime.
