Norton Transport PTY LTD

Norton Transport PTY LTD Norton Transport has been servicing and supporting local businesses and communities within the Eyre Peninsula for 74 years

NORTON TRANSPORT
The local business is celebrating 75 years of operation this year. Family involvement in the transport industry dates back to the late 1800’s, when Glyn’s grandfather Arthur Norton started hauling bagged wheat in the Lipson, Pt Neill and Tumby Bay districts using eight bullocks. The business was re-established after the Second World War by Arthur’s sons Ceph and Jim Norton. They

used a former army tray-top Chev truck, carting grain and hay around the Lower Eyre Peninsula. Sadly Jim passed away in 1980 which meant that their eldest son Glyn took over the family business. Glyn & Heather have been operating the business together for the past 35 years. The business relocated from 3 Walter Street in November 2011 to their new premises at Hayman Drive in Cummins. CUMMINS RECYCLERS
Heather & Glyn purchased the Cummins Can & Bottle Depot from Brian & Coral Nagel in May 2004 and renamed it Cummins Recyclers. The business has seen an increase in growth since the inception of recycling deposit from 5c to 10c in September 2008. They are opened 4 days a week in Cummins for recycling. Since moving into their new premises at Hayman Drive, the constructive and positive comments and feedback from all that have visited have been very welcoming. Glyn & Heather also collect and work out of Coffin Bay at their new depot on Lawrie Street. They work from their Coffin Bay depot once a month on a Sunday and usually travel down more frequently throughout the Summer as required. They also do specific trips during the weeks to collect from the Hotel, Park, Progress Association, Yacht Club and other businesses when necessary. Their new undercover drive through recycling depot at both Cummins and Coffin Bay is a welcoming site through all types of weather.

What a huge three days of training for Jack!
Day 1: HR Road Ranger restriction lift
Day 2: HC training
Day 3: MC training

Jack joined us from Norton Transport in Cummins, and with his gear changes already dialled in, we were able to jump straight into Road Ranger assessments before two solid days in the Scania.

Krystal even managed to sweet‑talk Nathan out of retirement for a day to help finish off Jack’s MC—and what a student to work with. Jack is an absolute natural, and it was a pleasure having him on board.

All the best, Jack, and a big thank you to Norton for choosing Northbound 💪
