IF YOU’RE planning to drop a line this weekend, why not join in on the Coopers Blue Water Classic fishing competition at the same time?
The competition is set to lure a large number of entrants with a total prize pool of $40,000.
And everyone is welcome to register.
Darwin Trailer Boat Club general manager Alex Ehrlich said the competition was an opportunity for anglers to get together.
“This competition really tests an angler’s skill and local knowledge,” Mr Ehrlich said.
“It is a true test of an angler, but also a real family affair with mums, dads and kids just going out and having a bit of a hoot together.”
The competition will run this weekend from Friday to Sunday.
Participants must register and there’s a $200 entry cost.
The entry fee includes DTBC membership for a year and a buffet dinner for two at the presentation night on October 23.
Mr Ehrlich said any fish that were left over from the competition would go to Foodbank.
“They freeze them quickly and distribute the fish right around Darwin – it’s the one time a year some people get fish,” he said.
A briefing night will be held at the Darwin Trailer Boat Club and will be the last chance for interested anglers to register.
