Geoscience Australia (GA) reported the earthquake tremor felt across the Top End was from a magnitude-6.4 earthquake in the Timor Region which hit at UTC 02.36 (around 12pm ACST).

The Bureau of Meteorology NT have confirmed there is no tsunami threat to Australia.

Something in the air tonight......

We might be waving goodbye to dry season clear skies and cooling sea breezes as temperatures and humidity rise, but at least we have spectacular lightening shows to look forward to.

⚡ This impressive storm cell, captured last night as it hovered above urban Darwin, was one of the first of the season, producing about seven lightning flashes.
