Around 40 people attended the "soft open" of the station on Saturday afternoon with food, w**e, live music and good company. Thanks to the organisers and to everyone who came along. It's great to see local community support for our station. We are really looking forward to starting repairs and renovations, and getting our museum going. A bright future ahead!

HAPPY 140th! The Deepwater Railway Station was officially opened on 1st September 1886. (We're getting in a week early with the birthday wishes, because it's a bit exciting and we wanted to share!)

The station building is now open at selected times throughout the week, so call in and take a look at the "before" state while we wait to start restoration work.

The railway station will be opening on a trial basis on a Monday and Friday from 9am to 3pm. This is a perfect opportunity for locals and visitors to see inside the building for the first time in more than a decade! Come and take a look at the "BEFORE" station, before we start repairing and renovating.

The railway station will be open to the public on a Monday and Friday 9am to 3pm from next week. Any volunteers to join the roster please contact us - we would love to open every day.

The Deepwater Progress Association has now signed a licence agreement to occupy the Deepwater Railway Station. This is the result of two years of work by the rail subcommittee (the "Deepwater Railway Historical Society") and means the local community now has access to our station again after about 17 years of sitting vacant. Now the real work can begin! We'll keep you updated on further work at the station.

Article in the New England Times (with one minor correction: Chris McIntosh is not the Progress Association president)...

UPDATE! Earlier this year, Council formerly called for expressions of interest from local community groups to occupy the Deepwater Railway Station.

The Deepwater Railway Historical Society (a subcommittee of the Deepwater Progress Association) has submitted an EOI. The EOI period is now closed. We await a final decision from Council, which should follow the next ordinary meeting of Council on 28th May.

Fingers crossed! 🀞🏼
