Mawson Trail Guide App

Hi Everyone, due to a technical glitch, we have had to create a new Mawson Trail App FB page. We would love it if you would head over and like that page, as we'll be deleting this one shortly.

I hope we can all build that page into a useful resource where riders can share their stories and give us feedback on the trail and app, and where all of the wonderful small businesses along the trail can give updates and tell trail stories, too.

Caltrop, Three Corner Jacks or prickles - no matter what you call them, they are a hazard on the Mawson Trail. The Mawson Trail Guide App shows you where they are. The photos in this post show the map just north of Spalding. When you tap the red warning markers text pops up about the prickles at that spot.

Consider using tubeless tyres. Small holes from Caltrop will reseal.

If you know of other places that have bad prickles, please leave a comment on this post. We'll update the App. The App currently mentions Caltrop around Bundaleer Forest, the Bundaleer Irrigation Canal and besides RM Williams Way between Spalding and Jamestown.

The Mawson Trail Guide App is a 100% offline phone guide describing trail sections, how to prepare, where to camp, facilities in towns, points of interest, history, where to watch out for Caltrop and much more. It has very detailed maps, optimised to work well on small phone screens, that don't need mobile phone coverage and Internet. The new Mawson Trail Guide App is coming soon! We recently rode the trail to test the App and are now putting the finishing touches on it. It will be available soon on both iPhone and Android phones.
