🎒🚌 Welcome back, Queensland!

Term 4 is here! 👋

As students, families and school communities get back into the school routine, it’s a good time for a quick reminder that bus safety is everyone’s responsibility.

🚌 Wait for the bus in a safe place
👀 Stay alert around buses and bus stops
💺 Stay seated while the bus is moving
🔒 Wear your seatbelt where one is fitted

Today is World Smile Day – a great reminder that something as simple as a smile, a friendly hello or a helping hand can make someone's day a little brighter. ☀️

So today, share a smile, spread a little kindness and keep those positive wheels turning! 🚌😊

A Little Preparation Goes a Long Way

As Rural Road Safety Month continues, here's a reminder that's easy to put into practice. 💚

Before heading out on a regional journey, taking a few minutes to prepare can make all the difference.

The research found many drivers don't check their fuel, vehicle condition or the weather before a regional trip.

So before you hit the road:

⛽ Check your fuel.
🔧 Check your vehicle.
🌦️ Check the weather.
📱 Make sure your phone is charged.

Plan ahead. Stay alert. Get home safely. 🚌💚

BOWEN, ARE YOU READY? 🚌💳

We’re excited to introduce a new way of paying across our Bowen services from the start of Term 4!

From 6 October 2026, there will be more ways to pay for travel, with passengers able to use their Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card when travelling on our services.

Smartcards will also be available for our student travellers, offering real time bus tracking, easy top -up facilities, and allowing effective communication regarding bus delays. These will be introduced throughout Term 4 ready to go live Beginning of Term 1, 2027.

For more information, visit our website https://www.emeraldcoaches.com.au/bus-routes/ or contact our Bowen Depot on 1800 428 737.

And stay tuned… 2027 will see further Smartcard rollouts across our other depots!

We’re excited to bring this new technology to Bowen and look forward to making travel even easier for our community.

There's No "Safe" Shortcut

Continuing our Rural Road Safety Month reminders with something simple:

The road rules are there for every journey. 🛣️

The latest research found that speeding, fatigue and mobile phone use are among the most common road-rule issues reported by drivers on country roads.

At Emerald Coaches, safety isn't something that changes depending on the road, the traffic or how familiar the journey feels.

📵 Put the phone away.
😴 Don't drive tired.
🚦 Follow the road rules.

There are no shortcuts when it comes to getting home safely. 💚🚌

💬 R U OK?

Sometimes a simple question can make a big difference.

Today is a reminder to check in with the people around you - not just today, but any day. 💛

Ask. Listen. Check in.

Because looking out for each other is something we can all do. 💚
