📍Longreach, QLD

Last year, while working in Alpha QLD, we took a weekend away in Longreach. It is honestly one of my favorite weekends to date. We stayed at The Staging Post, which was beautiful and aussie outback themed (a foreign tourist's dream tbh). The Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame was incredible (fantastic for any history buffs). We took a day to visit the Australian Age of Dinosaurs at Winton. Seeing REAL LIFE dinosaur footprints preserved in the earth was mind-blowing. But my favorite part of the trip was the starlights cruise experience by Outback Pioneers. A sunset cruise, followed by a camp oven dinner accompanied by traditional aussie poetry?! Get out of town.

📍Batlow, NSW

We spent 10 weeks working on this town. As QLDers, seeing the seasons change into autumn was PHENOMENAL. Big fan. Very cool.
It was so lovely to spend some time in cooler weather. The work accommodation even had an indoor fireplace, which made it even better 😍
We're gonna miss this town and the beautiful people we met here!

Today is our Saturday, so we decided to check out the local winery near where we're working 😍 Gosh it was gorgeous. And the charcuterie board?! The last photo shows how excited I was about that 🤣

📍Yass, NSW

An hour out of Canberra, we found a really lovely town called Yass, which was originally known as Yarrh (meaning "running water") by the Ngunawal tribe. It still had many of its original buildings from the 1800s (who doesn't love an old building?!) and a really well-kept park by the Yass River. Turns out Yass was home to Banjo Paterson for most of his childhood, and he returned to the area later in life for his children to experience a similar life.

📍Manning Gorge, Gibb River Road, WA

The fact that you have to SWIM through the first part of the track to Manning Gorge just makes the whole experience even better. Pushing your belongings in a big plastic bucket and cooling off in the water was a lot of fun. It definitely make the shade-less hike a lot more bearable to be covered in water 😎

Izzy has done us well for 2024, but she's got plenty more km's to cover in 2025 😎

There's always that bitter-sweet feeling that accompanies us as we leave our friends and family to take our lives and careers on the road. We're very grateful for those connections that stay strong despite our time away, and even more grateful for the new connection we make along the way! We feel very blessed to be in a line of work that allows us to take our work on the road and see the country.

Here's to more fun, adventure, gratitude, and growth in 2025 🍻🎉🎆
