It’s Kadina’s turn to celebrate! 🎉

We have been celebrating our Regional Depots this month and as our Kadina Depot marked its 3rd anniversary this week, we fired up the BBQ for a special breakfast 🍳

Some of our favourite customers dropped in to join our terrific local team for an E&B sandwich 🥓

Led by Depot Manager Brian Sims, with Ron Bickley as 2IC and Sean McGinley as Night Shift Supervisor, the depot’s team of 15 dedicated employees delivers safe, reliable and efficient freight solutions throughout the region.

The Kadina team certainly run a tight ship: our Kadina Depot is always as immaculate as they day it was opened in 2023.

The Cochrane’s Kadina Depot is a key part of our Regional Transport network, proudly servicing communities across the Yorke Peninsula and Lower Mid North.

Supporting local businesses, essential services and regional communities, the depot services a diverse customer base including hospitals, schools, councils, agricultural businesses, automotive operators, retailers and residential customers.

A key strength of the Kadina operation is its versatile fleet, purpose-built to handle everything from bulk freight to parcel deliveries, enabling flexible and efficient service across both regional and township locations 🚚

Beyond logistics, the team proudly supports the local community through sponsorship of the Moonta Netball Club, Variety the Children’s Charity and Raising Literacy initiatives, reflecting Cochrane’s commitment to the communities we serve.

🚚 Trucking for a Great Cause!

The 2026 Variety BASH is underway…

Each year, this iconic event takes entrants thousands of kilometres through South Australia's towns and outback, supporting kids and families facing illness, disadvantage, or disability.

This year the Bash is headed to historic Port Pirie via Quorn, Streaky Bay, Wudinna, Cleve, Kimba and Port Lincoln.

We have lost count of the number of Bashes that Cochrane’s have provided the BAG trucks that carry the swags, spares, equipment, water and other essentials for this epic 8-day event.

🎉 Celebrating 4 years in Port Pirie 🚚

Established in 2022, the Cochrane’s Port Pirie Depot is a vital part of our Regional Transport network, proudly servicing Port Pirie and surrounding communities across South Australia's Mid-North.

Led by Depot Manager Sam Makris and Supervisors Josh Searle and Karl Kirby, the depot's team of 16 dedicated employees operates a fleet of 11 vehicles, delivering safe, reliable and efficient freight solutions to customers throughout the region.

From Port Pirie to Peterborough, Spalding and Crystal Brook, and the communities in between, the team plays a critical role in keeping businesses supplied, supporting local industries and helping regional communities stay connected.

A key strength of the Cochranes network operating out of the Port Pirie Depot is our long-standing partnerships with local businesses across the Mid North. Many of these businesses proudly operate as Depot Collect Agents on our behalf, with several partnerships spanning more than 20 years.

These enduring relationships reflect the trust, collaboration, and shared commitment that help us keep regional communities connected while delivering reliable freight solutions and exceptional service to our customers.

Congrats to New Aussie Sunny!

We’re excited to celebrate a huge milestone for our mechanic Sunny, who has just become an Australian Citizen.

Born in Sri Lanka, Sunny completed his Diploma in Automotive Mechanics in 2002 and went on to successfully complete an Australian migration skills assessment in 2016, transferring his qualification to Australian‑recognised standards.

He joined Cochrane’s three years ago and has been a valued part of our team ever since.

Sunny, along with his wife and two daughters, has worked incredibly hard to build a new life here, and we’re proud to have been part of that journey.

Our business began in a backyard in Mitcham over 50 years ago, and we now service 1600+ towns across SA.

We deliver thousands of pallets and parcels across the state every night, from Leigh Creek to Murray Bridge, from Mount Gambier to Moonta, from Victor Harbor to Streaky Bay and beyond.

Celebrating 16 years in Port Augusta

Established in 2010, our Port Augusta Depot has become a vital transport and logistics hub for regional and remote South Australia.

Managed by Alan Jarvis, the depot has grown substantially since its early days, when operations began with just 8 drivers delivering essential freight throughout the region.

Over the years, the depot has expanded its fleet, workforce, and service capabilities to support a broad range of customers and communities.

Today, the Port Augusta team services an extensive network covering Port Augusta, Ceduna, Roxby Downs, Leigh Creek, Port Lincoln, and surrounding areas, ensuring reliable freight connections across some of South Australia's most remote locations.

The depot plays a critical role in the delivery of essential goods and services, including:

Medical freight and healthcare supplies
Hardware
Whitegoods and household appliances
Mining equipment, consumables, and essential supplies

From ensuring communities receive their daily mail and fresh bread, to delivering critical medical freight and supporting major mining operations, the Port Augusta Depot is an integral part of the region's supply chain.

The depot's growth and success reflect the dedication of Alan Jarvis and his team, whose commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service has helped establish Port Augusta as a key Cochranes Transport operation serving the diverse needs of regional South Australia.

Today we wish Don Hansen a long and happy retirement as he steps down after 15+ years with Cochrane’s Transport.

Don joined us in 2011 when we acquired Northern Kope Parcel Express, and has been a senior leader in our business ever since, taking on the role of General Manager – Sales in 2015.

As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team, Don has helped shape our strategic direction and supported the operational and commercial evolution of the business.

Don leaves with our heartfelt best wishes for his retirement, and we hope he enjoys more time pursuing his passions and interests outside of work.

Congratulations, Don. Thank you for everything you’ve contributed to Cochrane’s Transport.

Fifteen years: quite a milestone!

Please join us in congratulating Sandy, who has been recognised for an incredible 15 years of service with Cochrane’s Transport.

Sandy first joined the business in 2011 when Cochrane’s acquired Northern Kope, and she has been a valued part of the team ever since.

In 2022, Sandy stepped into her current role as Workshop Administrator, where she keeps things running smoothly together with our Service Manager and team of Mechanics.

Sandy has headed off to enjoy some well‑earned long service leave: we hope she has a relaxing and enjoyable break and look forward to her return in a few weeks’ time.
