The heavy vehicle industry supports safety. What it doesn’t support is turning paperwork technicalities into $1,300 fines while genuine safety risks demand attention.
Professional drivers should be judged by how safely they operate, not by whether a line in a work diary perfectly joins up.
Common sense and risk-based enforcement must be part of the conversation. Otherwise, we’re simply punishing good operators and driving experienced people away from an industry that can least afford to lose them.
