If you’ve been wondering whether a family charter is actually doable - this one’s for you 💙

A lot of parents love the ideas of experiencing a bareboat charter with the kids but also have a big list of “what ifs”. What if the kids get bored? What if we’ve never chartered before? Where does everyone sleep?

We’ve answered a few of them here 👆

The Great Sandy Strait keeps our waters protected, the kids will be too busy swimming and wildlife-spotting to miss a screen, and the nerves disappear faster than you’d think. There’s also no boating licence needed ✅

Have you spotted our current sale [over $2000 in savings!] on board Aquila Sunrise but not sure how bareboating on a power catamaran works or if you should take the leap? Here's a few details you should know:

⚓️ No licence needed. Like all our vessels, Aquila Sunrise can be hired without a boat licence. As a power catamaran she's beautifully straightforward to handle.

📋 You're never thrown in the deep end. Before you depart we send pre-briefing videos, then walk you through a full in-person briefing covering navigation, anchoring and onboard systems. We also taxi you in and out of the harbour, so you don't have to stress about the tricky bits.

📞 We're with you the whole way. Our team is on call 24/7 throughout your charter so if you're ever unsure about anything, help is one phone call away.

🛌 There's room for everyone. Three double cabins, each with its own private ensuite, plus a saloon table that converts to a fourth double. Sleeps 6–8 comfortably.

🍳 It's a holiday, not a camping trip. A full galley with fridge, freezer, electric BBQ, stovetop, ice machine and even a Nespresso machine. Linen and towels supplied - just bring your food, drinks and clothes. Aquila Sunrise is also decked out with a brand new washer dryer.

🐋 The timing is everything. Our sale covers July to September aka. peak season where you may spot some friendly giants as they enter their favourite place to play [Platypus Bay].

Most of our guests have never skippered a boat before and they leave wondering why they waited so long. If you've got questions, that's exactly what we're here for.

No license needed. Full in person briefing provided and we’ll taxi you in and out of the harbour.

Lest We Forget 🌺 Did you know the remote western shores of Visit K'gari - Fraser Island were once home to a secret training base? Between 1943 and 1945, the Fraser Commando School was set up for the men of the Z Force, Australia's covert special operations unit.

Over 900 military personnel passed through the school with their missions staying classified until 1980.

Every time we sail past these stunning western beaches, we're extremely close to a key piece of ANZAC history.

Today we remember all those who served and who continue to protect our country 💛

Hervey Bay holds a pretty special title: the world's first designated Whale Heritage Site. Every year, humpback whales make this stretch of coastline their sanctuary and there's truly nothing like seeing these beauties up close when they choose to come and say hello 👋🏻

We have a handful of booking windows still available across our fleet this whale season (July – October 2026), and they're filling fast. Whether you're dreaming of a long weekend on the water or a full week drifting through the Great Sandy Strait, we have a vessel to suit your group and your budget.
