After 30 years in freight, we've seen this happen more times than we can count.

A customer changes freight providers because someone finds a cheaper quote.

A few months later they're dealing with delays, poor communication and a whole lot of unnecessary headaches.

Sometimes the cheapest quote ends up being the most expensive decision.

Good freight isn't just about moving containers from A to B.

It's about having people who know your business, communicate with you and step up when something goes wrong.

If that's the sort of freight partner you're looking for, we'd love to have a chat.

Freight is up. Space is tight.

That's the reality we're seeing across the China to Australia trade lane right now.

The biggest challenge isn't just the increase in freight rates.

It's making sure your cargo actually gets on the vessel.

If you've got shipments planned over the coming months, now's the time to start planning.

The earlier we know about your freight, the better chance we've got of securing space and keeping everything moving.

Big news for tile and stone importers

GTL now has priority access to specialised drop deck ramp trailers - and we're one of only two transport companies in Australia with this equipment.

So what does that mean for you?

These trailers lower directly to the ground so forklifts can drive straight into the container. No loading dock needed. No ramps. No extra equipment.
βœ” Faster unloading
βœ” Up to 30 tonnes transport capability
βœ” More product per container
βœ” Less hassle, lower costs

Over time, fitting more product into every container can add up to some really significant savings for your business.

If you're importing tiles or natural stone, we'd love to show you how this works. Get in touch with the GTL team today.

Just a quick freight market update.

Rates are still sitting well above where they were earlier in the year, and vessel space continues to be tight.

Current market levels are around:
πŸ“¦ USD $1,850 – 20' Container
πŸ“¦ USD $3,700 – 40' Container

The biggest challenge isn't necessarily paying the rate.

It's making sure your cargo actually gets on the vessel.

If you've got shipments coming up, have a chat with your freight forwarder sooner rather than later.
Need some advice? We'd be happy to help.

What I'm most proud of isn't how much GTL has grown over the last 27 years.

It's that the way we work hasn't changed.

We're still a family-run business and we still believe that good business starts with good relationships.

Many of our clients have been with us for years because they know they can call us when they need advice, answers or support. They know we'll be honest, transparent and focused on finding the best outcome.

Markets change. Shipments change. Challenges come up.

What matters is having the right people around you when they do.

That's what we've built at GTL and it's something we're incredibly proud of.

One of the biggest misconceptions in business is that successful importers don't experience problems.

They do.

Shipments get delayed.
Suppliers miss deadlines.
Costs change.
Markets shift.

The difference is often how prepared they are when those challenges arise.

Businesses that understand their inventory, forecast demand and build strong supplier relationships usually have more options available when things don't go to plan.

And options are valuable.

Because when you're not forced into making urgent decisions, you're more likely to make good ones.

Have a look at the graphic and ask yourself: which business looks most like yours today?

If you'd like to discuss your current supply chain and identify opportunities to improve visibility, planning and efficiency, we'd be happy to help.

No furniture importer can perfectly predict demand.

Not retailers.
Not buyers.
Not even the biggest brands.

The real question is:
What happens when the forecast is wrong?
Can you reorder quickly?
Do you understand your supplier lead times?
Do you have visibility over stock that's still on the water?

The strongest furniture businesses aren't trying to predict the future perfectly.

They're building flexibility into their business so they can respond when things change.

Because in business, options are often more valuable than predictions.

If you'd like to discuss your current freight and supply chain strategy, we'd be happy to help.

Australia relies on global shipping more than most people realise.

That means events happening on the other side of the world can eventually impact businesses here at home.

Changes in shipping routes.
Port congestion.
Weather events.
Geopolitical tensions.

All of these factors can influence freight costs, transit times and supply chain planning.

Understanding what's happening globally helps businesses make better decisions locally.

If you'd like a second opinion on your current freight or supply chain strategy, we'd be happy to have a conversation.

Over the years, we've noticed that successful importers tend to think differently.

They're not just focused on the next shipment arriving.

They're thinking about what happens if demand increases, costs change, timelines move or something doesn't go to plan.

That's because strong supply chains aren't built by reacting to problems.
They're built by planning for them.

Here are five ways successful importers tend to think differently when making decisions about their suppliers, freight and supply chain.

Your shipment has arrived in Australia.

So why isn't it at your warehouse yet?

It's one of the most common questions we receive.
The reality is that vessel arrival and cargo availability are two very different milestones.

Before goods can be delivered, there may still be customs clearance,
biosecurity inspections, terminal processing and transport coordination to complete.

Understanding these steps helps businesses plan inventory, production schedules and customer commitments more accurately.
